Michlo
Greetings, I'm recently returned to FO4 and loving the new and updated mods since the Creation Kit. Thank you, modders! One thing I've yet to find is a way to protect ourselves from the weather in the shelters and homes we build. Do we have that yet? Have I missed it?Cheers. montky
an excellent question!that depends - are you looking to avoid rads and rain/snow/dust-devils etc? there's a few mods, which treat the area you build in as an 'interior cell' - the base component is treated as having a room-bound invisible door-portal, and is associated as a interior cell group. that means, no weather whatsoever at the terminus hehe.this lets you have multiple interiors or new-lands bound to it,as perhaps best exemplified by "Memory Den Virtual Holodeck" and "TARDIS". I think Greek-Rage's elevators are an interesting case-study;they transition non-linearly from exterior to interior, so the rads drop-off gradually, rather than a sharp 'on/off'. there's then also any-door-to-any-where, and basement living etc,all of which allow you to build interior cells settlements.you plop the door pair, and they match an interior to the exterior.the illusion is that they're "in the same cell" - though if you no-clip, the illusion is revealed.we suspend our disbelief, and that is how you can have elevators and other stuff transition(see Cypher2012's carts/rollercoaster and train etc) if you just want the interior of your settlement to not have weather effects like hail, rain, etc,but still want the rads to irradiate you while topside, then there are a few mods for thathttps://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/5522717-fallout-4-optimization-and-performance-systems-explained/which are detailed in the above thread and a few other threads.most are just adding an invisible tile, and under that is consider an interior IIRC.Petard, Elianora, MxR, Oxhorn, Tyrannicon etc had how-to vids on that.^this approach is great for covered walkways or custom 'irregular geometry' buildings etc.I use this for the cafe seating, phonebooths and metal containers as well. I hope this is of some use for you and gives some ideas of what is out there.I recommend also watching your favorite mod-reviewers, so as to see how they approach settlement buildingand to see their random-sample from the superset of mods out there.Good luck and happy settlement building! Michlo
Montky, that was, indeed, very useful.I have used the doors to basement trick but yes, was hoping for something for our above ground abodes. I shall research what you have shared. Thank you very much. Cheers.Edit: I've looked through the 20-page forum thread. Whilst I now understand a little more about cells I'm not finding reference to the invisible tile mods, nor when I search the database. I shall look to Petard's videos next but if you already know of specific mods, I'd appreciate some linkage. :)Cheers.

Good luck and happy settlement building!Wow this is really awesome! I wasn't even specifically looking for weather proof stuff but checked topic anyways. Pretty cool there's tiles that do that so I think I will give them a try. This solved another thing I wondered about, adding our own interiors & elevators between interior/exteriors to a settlement! I think at least for initially building/visualizing a potential location I'd like to first try using the building interface rather than CK Can I ask where to find the door to anywhere mod and basement living? dragonslayer2k12
That true storms mod has rad scrubbers you can install inside of a structure to prevent rads from getting in but nothing for rain yet. I think it was fadingsignal that made the mod but he never updated it after discussing recent bugs.

Michlo
Well, I don't find the rad scrubbers from True Storms but I did find another mod, Real Radiation which takes away the rad storms altogether. That'll have to do for now. Cheers.
