Mass Effect Mod

I have a request. Sadly I have NO modding skills what so ever.

 

The few things I want are

1. The Asari race and/or companion. 2. N7 armor. and 3. Mass effect weapons.

 

Though if anyone wants to do more there are some things that I know that experienced modders can do.

 

A total over haul.

 

Since the reaper attack, earth was blown to hell and back so the world doesn't need a total conversion.

 

Things that would be easy:

 

1. Make feral ghouls look like Husk

 

2. Reskin weapons

 

3. Edit human races.

 

Medium Diffulculty:

 

1. Create new races so that they are applied to all NPCs.

 

2. Change/remove/add quest.

 

3. retexture most of the world to look more modern and Mass Effect like.

 

4. Add new weapons/armor.

 

5. Change/add/remove creatures to fit a Mass Effect setting.

 

Hard:

 

1. Rewrite the entire diologue and voice it to be more Mass Effect.

 

2. Adding biotics.

 

3. Adding tech skills

 

4. Replace all factions and change their habits, ruteines, allie's and objectives.

 

 

Well that's just my idea. If somone could make a Mass Effect mod like that, I know I would download and edorse the hell out of it. If noone is up to the task I would be thankful for the requested items I asked at the start.

Dude... what you're asking for amounts to what is called, in modder terms, a total, or near-total, conversion.

Such modifications are usually measured in the hundreds of megabytes, if not a good several gigabytes, depending on the game in question.

For a game like New Vegas, such a mod would likely run you 5GB MINIMUM size.

That, and such a mod would breach several laws regarding copyrights, and numerous Nexus site regulations regarding ports.

 

I wouldn't bother asking about a mod like this if I were you... for one, not many people have the necessary skill for such a thing... for two, well, I doubt they have the wallet to foot the fines that'd likely result from the copyright infringement lawsuits.

You need to be constructive, not defeatist. This mod does not amount to Copyright Infringement if all of the assets are user created. What you are going on about is porting, and none of what you said really applies. As long as all of the assets are originally created by a modder and NOT taken from Mass Effect, then it's a go. The massive amount of work needed behind it isn't as large as you go on about. The scripting is a large part of it, and revoicing everything is a little unrealistic, but not impossible (I don't see anyone doing it unfortunately). But the retextures and new meshes wouldn't amount to 5GB. The textures and meshes are the easy part, then the scripting part is harder, and a total over-haul of the voices is the largest undertaking.

unless laws have changed I'm pretty sure making new models and textures (not using any of the original mass effect content) and making it look like mass effect and not charging any money for it would be 100% legal. no copyrights would be violated. if you started making people pay for then, i could see an issue because of intellectual rights. other than that, thats a lot of work.
