ColdTyrant
Can someone please f*#@ing explain to me what is wrong with these nifs? They crash CK and Skyrim whenever they are loaded in/equipped, but load into Bodyslide and NifSkope just fine. I cannot find anything abnormal about these files that I can fix with either of these programs which I have plenty of experience with. These nifs refuse to work and crash the game for seemingly no reason and it is driving me insane. Can someone please take a look at them and either fix them or tell me what is wrong with them so I can fix them? Thank you for your time. thumbincubation
Were they, by chance, Oldrim nifs that haven't been converted over for SSE use? You can try this, on a copy of the nif, not the original. That way, if it fails, delete and lose nothing. Make a copy. Open the copy in nifskope. Spells > batch > triangulate all stripsSpells > batch > make all skin partitions (set bones per partition to 60)Spells > batch > add tangent spaces and update Save without auto-sanitize. Then make a copy of the newly-converted file. (unique name) Open that copy, go to FILE, check "auto sanitize before save" and save it again. Try to use the sanitized one in CK, and in game. If it still crashes, try the unsanitized one. Most times, armor crashes if I sanitize it, but once in a while it crashes if I don't. I'm not certain this will fix your problem, or even what is causing your issue, but it's a quick, easy, risk-free option that may help.
ColdTyrant
Have you tried http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4089/? Yes, and they still crash when I equip them. The NIF optimizer usually works for me but not in this case. Were they, by chance, Oldrim nifs that haven't been converted over for SSE use? You can try this, on a copy of the nif, not the original. These are oldrim nifs but I already put them through the usual conversion process that works for every other oldrim Nifs I've ever used. These are the exception and still crash my game and the CK. ColdTyrant
The reason i made this thread is because typical fixes are not working. I need someone to check the Nifs and maybe see what could be the problem. I can't find anything, and nothing I do (including the proposed solutions above) helps. ColdTyrant
How do I set bones per partition to 60? I don't see that option anywhere EDIT: nevermind. It says "did 0 partitions" and makes no difference. Still crashes the game and CK. Edited October 18, 2017 by ColdTyrant
ColdTyrant
I managed to get it to show up in the Creation Kit without crashing by changing the BSLightingShader type to 'default' and removing the 'environment' tag from the first line of shader flags. HOWEVER, it still crashes in-game on equip :| What the actual f*#@.
