Possible to mix flora mods?

I wonder if it is possible to mix different flora mods so that you can use one as a base but perhaps take some flora you really like in another?

For example I usually install Flora Overhaul first (has really nice trees etc) and then after that I install Verdant over that since I like that grass overall a bit better. However there are some plants from Flora Overhaul that I really love.

Is it possible to somehow modify or do something to use some of the flora from one mod and some from the other? Are they using the same "slots" so that you can create your own package depending on which files you keep from each mod?

If two mods change the same thing, then the one that loads last will be what you see. You've used that fact to your advantage by installing Verdant after Flora Overhaul. The game looks at the name of an asset. If the names are different, then it will use both assets. So, there isn't a "slot" per se.

However, it seems that what you are talking about, basically, is combining the two mods. Now, you can do that using XEdit and a mod combination script, but that can have its own drawbacks. Items with scripts on them can be glitched by using that script, so if you have harvestable plants, they may be unharvestable in the combined mod. Alternatively, you can use XEdit to delete the assets you don't want to use, but that can cause problems if the mod tries to access something that you've deleted. The problem is called "insta-crash". Okay, the game may not crash, but it won't be happy, and you could see stability problems.

You can also do the combining manually in the CK, although it takes patience because you have to deal with each asset one at a time. I have not combined mods in this fashion myself, so my best suggestion is to check out some tutorials on the technique.

Good luck! :)
