Modding advice needed!

I have vast experience in installing and combining mods for Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II, and even creating some cosmetic mods for them.

But Inquisition...this is completely different, to say the least.

I've installed my game from Origin several days ago, so it's up to date and containing all the DLCs and whatnot. I've only played it on PS4 so far, but I'm used to modded Dragon Age and I have the need to improve it, as I'm sure y'all will understand. In fact, the sole reason why I installed it on my PC is so I could mod it.

First of all: the ModManager. I have the DAI Tools Suite Loader 1.0.0.8 properly installed, along with ModManager x64 1.0.0.59. Using this thing is completely new to me. I have no idea where my mods go when I install them, or how to uninstall them if I don't see them working. I have a vague idea, from reading other people's posts and instructions, that there is an Update folder in my game's files, and I've opened it, but I still don't see where my mods go.

Specifically, for now I would like to play the full game, with all the DLCs, as a Female Elf, romancing Solas. Aside from some gameplay mods (wider search radius, Mage and Rogue combat improvements, more loot etc.), I would like to have some cosmetic mods as well (of course). It would be great if I could have better eyelashes and at least some decent eyebrows for my Inquisitor, but I can't get them to work (at least not together). The same goes for hair, makeup, face texture. Oh, and there is no chance to combine mods like these with a new face for Solas. So either I look at pretty Solas and ugly Inquisitor, or the other way around.

Can't I have both?!? How do I make them work together???

It goes without saying that the cosmetic mods which I require must work with DLCs.

Can someone help me? Can you at least point me to mods which can work together, as in having at least normal eyebrows for Inquisitor and pretty Solas at the same time? And how do I see where exactly those mods go? Can I make them work together on my own?

I need guidance, I hope you can help.

Here is a tutorial.

To answer some of your questions...

To uninstall a mod, you simply remove it from the folder you're using to merge and marge again. Tick the box for "Force rescan of Patch."

The Mod Manager takes advantage of the patching system and basically tricks the game by creating a new patch with your selected mods. You will find this patch under C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch_ModManagerMerge

To start fresh, you can just delete the Patch_ModManagerMerge folder.

Be aware that you won't be able to load a save made with the Mod Manager if you do this because part of the process has the game thinking it's patch 13, while the official patch is 12. Any modded save thinks it's version 13, so won't load. To get around this, if you don't want to have any mods, you can create a "blank" patch, which is merging with no mods.

I can't answer your questions on cosmetic mods since I don't use any of the larger ones, just my own couple of simple mods that I created.

Thank you nightscrawl, you've provided great help

At least now I have some control over the mods I install. And the warning about deleting the modded Patch and the saved game is excellent. No wonder my game crashed that one time...

I would really appreciate some advice on combining the mods. Anyone? Creators of cosmetic mods usually don't point out if their mod is conflicting with some other cosmetic mod, nor do they specify if it works with all the DLCs. Some do, but most don't.

I don't aim to make anything complicated, given the limitations of this game. Just some nice eyebrows and a pretty Solas would do. Some nice hairdo for my female Lavellan would be superb, but it's a high hope. And...I don't suppose a retexture of Solas's outfit would clash with anything...would it?

my mods dont show in the mod manger at all?

Please make a new post about it. This is Katarsi's thread. Meanwhile, I made an installation guide for someone else on this thread. It goes into excruciatingly minute detail. Maybe it'll work for you? https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/daitools/manager-can-t-find-mods-t1846.html

Conflicts happen when people mod the same file (obviously), but those cosmetic things tend to be very specific.

I consider this the best hairdo for females in Inquisition: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/1143/

You will also find a bunch of great links on that page - obviously they work together to create that look. There are lots of personalised characters on the nexus like this.

Bear in mind that mods that change graphics tend to, at worst, crash Trespasser or at best fail to show up in it. -it looks like this will change over time as modders move over to Frosty.
