I need help with Skyrim modding (Read below, crashes)

As you read above, I'm having a few difficulties modding Skyrim. I got the Nexus Mod Manager, LOOT, and TES5Edit to clean mods. I have 44 plugins (I'll put them in a link below) and I sorted the mods in LOOT, then I cleaned the ones that had to be cleaned in TES5Edit. When I load the game runs fine. But sometimes when I try to load the map or fast travel, Skyrim crashes. I watched this video (

) and tried installing ENB, it worked out but when I ran my game it ran super slow. I've read a lot of stuff online and I can't seem to figure it out. It's starting to really bug me. Can someone help me out? I'm sorry if this is to dull. I'm kind of new to Skyrim modding. If you need anymore information just ask.

Here are my usual recommendations:

  • Make sure you have the SKSE Memory Patch set up.
  • Install Crash Fixes and be sure to read the description.
  • Install Bug Fixes. Not absolutely required, but it has some nice fixes that aren't covered by USLEEP.
  • Install Load Game CTD Fix. It fixes a thread race condition when loading save games.
  • ENBoost - This gives you the memory management features of ENB without the visual effects processing. Not needed if you run an ENB.

I tried all this but it didn't work. Sometimes when I open the map it still crashes. I believe I read through everything correctly and I did everything. Maybe there is a mod conflicting with the other mods? Someone please help as soon as possible. And once again, I thank everyone for their time.

I just noticed that you don't have USLEEP. You should get that.

Do you have the following line in your Skyrim.ini? If so, then remove it. It's been known to cause map crashes.

[ScreenSplatter]
bBloodSplatterEnabled=0 ; delete this line

If you suspect a mod conflict, then you can disable some and test. For map crashes, take a look at things that add map markers.

Do you have the Immersive Citizens compatibility patch for Open Cities? I can't tell because some of your lines are cut off. That might be it at #38.

Alright, I got USLEEP. I checked my Skyrim.ini, I didn't find that line for some reason. I disabled my most recently installed mod that I thought may be causing conflicts. I also checked and I do have the compatibility patch for Immersive Citizens.

And I tried to load the game again, it was going well but all of the sudden I open the map and it crashes. By the way, I'm also having a glitch where I can't talk to the Imperial military leader after I give Jarl Balgruuf his axe back in the Message to Whiterun quest. I need to do this to start the Battle of Whiterun quest. I'm not sure if the mods are causing this or not. They probably are though, I don't recall this happening when I did a vanilla playthrough of Skyrim. But lets just get the crashing figured out first. Sorry for asking so many questions.

Are you still using ENB? You said that you followed the YouTube tutorial but that it was super slow. Which ENB did you try? Also, what video card do you have?

I just watched that video, and there's some old information. In enblocal.ini, ExpandSystemMemoryx64 should be set to false now, as it can conflict with some other memory fixes. Also, VideoMemorySizeMb should be set according to Boris' VRamSizeTest tool. I think you still need to subtract 170 or 350 from it first. This post by Boris says so.

Also, are you on Windows 10? If so, then did you get the Fall Creators Update that came out on Oct 17? It allows DirectX 9 games like Oldrim to use a lot more video RAM. It could help. You should be able to get it through Windows Update.

You can try deleting (and backup up) your Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini to see if it fixes anything. If it does, you'll have to reapply those ENB changes though.

I did what I was told to do on the website ENBoost website and the game runs fine. I previously tried using M ENB on the Nexus. My video card is the AMD Radeon R6 Graphics card. ExpandSystemMemoryx64 is set to false already. I am also on Windows 10 and I always update my computer so I should have it. I also subtracted 350 from the number I got on boris's VRamTestTool. I'll try deleting my Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini (I'll back it up.)
