Help with upgrading to run Skyrim on High/Ultra

Recommended Posts

I love Skyrim and want to be able to have better graphics, but the best I can play on is between medium and high with an average of 28-35 fps. I want to be able to play on Ultra with atleast 45+ fps. These are my computer specs http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/analysis.aspx?name=The-Elder-Scrolls-V:-Skyrim&id=11231&session=28c1c282-3841-4688-b4b5-047f0772ed51 compared to skyrim. Can someone tell me what I need to improve? I know I need a better video card, but do I also need anything else? Thanks :)

Yeah, it didn't save your specs. You'll need to post them. In the mean time, I've heard that a GTX 560 TI 2GB is a good deal for a great card. Since it's an Nivida card, you'd even be able to force SSAO in Skyrim for extra eyecandy, if you end up with performance to spare. (which you might, since that's a nice card)

I'd find it on Newegg if I was you. They offer good deals, rebates (though I've heard that they can be a bit noncommittal about actually giving you the rebate unless you pester them), and they have a wide selection. Of course I'm not sure of the rest of your stats, so don't necessarily assume that a GTX 560 will even be supportable on your power supply unit or motherboard.
