ZoeTooCute
Hello everyone! Although I've been a member of the Nexus for quite some time now, I'm just now realizing my desire to really dive into things here and become way more socially active. So, it's time I finally introduce myself. My name is Zoey, although when it comes to gaming or anything online at all really, I prefer to go by Kela. It's a nickname I got a long time ago from a friend. He always kept calling me Kela on comms whenever we were gaming together, even though my character names never had anything to do with the name haha (I think everyone else called me Talya, my main character's name). Anyway after awhile everyone else started saying it to and well, here we are, haha! I came to the Nexus while playing Fallout: New Vegas, when I first learned I could actually modify my game to play any way I could possibly think of. And well, I was hooked immediately! I've been using NMM and the site ever since. Most recently for modding Fallout 4. Funny enough, I kinda end up spending far more time tinkering with the mods and trying to make the game my idea of perfect, than actually playing it! LMAO. (Sadly I'm not even joking, I haven't even completed the main quest or gotten past like.. level 30! >.<) Anyway I've become so interested in modding my game and learning more and more about making my game run stable, at a tolerable FPS, and still being amazing; that I've decided I'd like to learn how to design and create my own mods and learn all the ins and outs of it all. So far I'll be honest, I have not really made any progress as far as even considering trying to make a mod, but that's because I really really want to learn how to do everything properly and correctly as far as working on my version of a modded Fallout 4. I have so very much to learn thats for sure and every day I'm constantly on my phone and laptop googling this and that. Right now, I'm trying to learn about FO4Edit and merging mods together, making patches, and possibly most important of all, I need to learn about cleaning and conflict resolution still! As far as my current knowledge, I've learned alot about Load orders, troubleshooting ctds and other problems that have come up, tweaking my ini files, and alot about increasing my laptops performance. Oh and quite possibly the most important skill of all that I've had to learn has been learning how to be conservative and not go overboard with the mods. It was most definitely the most difficult thing I had to overcome so far with modding. There's always been so so many mods I just love! And I end up wanting wayyyy more than possibly any computer could handle... (No joke, my NMM has well over 1,000 mods in its library just for Fallout 4 alone! (Though I have no idea how that compares to everyone else)). It was so hard to not have over 250 mods installed and learn that i had to part ways with most of the mods I wanted if I ever wanted a stable, smooth, playable game experience. But I'm down to being ok with like... around 120 or so I think. And I still haven't learned how to merge patches or mods yet! I can't wait! Sorry I got carried away with introducing myself. But yea, that's me.. lol TL;DR - My name is Zoey, call me Kela. I love gaming and modding. I really want to learn how to create mods and how to make my modded gaming experience as fun, stable, and smooth as possible. I love learning and communicating so please don't hesitate to say hi! I'm a bundle of fun & silly! =^â¢^= meow!! ~ Kela <
HeyYou
Hi Zoey. :) I have a granddaughter with the same name. :) Congrats. You have fallen into the pit that is know as 'game modding'. As you have found, it is HIGHLY addictive, and yes, you spend more time tweaking on your game, and load list, than you do actually playing....... Nice to see ya hereabouts. :D
PkSanTi
Welcome, Kela. I myself am also relatively new in modding. When I first pretended to learn all this, specially scripting, wich is, with texturing, what I like the most, I went to my brother for advise, since he is a fine logician and a script-writter on a quite big corporation. I asked him: 'truly, oh, brother of mine!' (well, perhaps it wasn't so poetic...), 'is this something I can learn with no background studys on the matter or any so except for logics?' He replied: there's no any knowledge in the world you can't achieve by sitting in your desk like a fool and being stubborn like a child'. So I did, so it was. So that is the only advise I can give to you, now that you're entering the world of modding: don't be afraid. There's nothing you can't learn by seatting in your desk and reading and tweaking and failing like a fool! That's how I learned all I know, anyway. So welcome, and, again, don't be afraid of failing and perseverance. Those, and willing eyes for lot of reading, are all you need! We'll be meeting again around the forum; don't doubt to ask any question. Edited November 4, 2017 by PkSanTi
