spookymunky
actually, increasing the core voltage to eliminate it doesnt seem to work that well, heaven just crashed on me even with 18mV and the settings in that first pic hehe, seemeed to be fine and then gpu died... maybe needs +50 or so.. who knows, again it's not my gpu so I really don't want to break it hehe... for my own stuff I try and find the limit, max out the voltage etc... As with cpu overclocking though, at the end of the day it's how much noise you are willing to put up with, or should be haha.. no idea why nvidia have decided thermal throttling is a good idea! ( by default I mean.. makes no sense to have fans max out at 40% so chip can get to 85deg+ instead of 50% so chip can stay at 65deg constantly)
spookymunky
If I had to guess then their fan curves are set for the founders edition / whatever.. ones without giant fans hehe, so all readings are null and void... I hope this has helped you in some way, it really is a nice card, something I would be proud of owning maybe hehe... as soon as you reign in the temps it overclocks on its own to being a beast.. a beast that has been running heaven and valley etc benchmarks nonstop for 24 hours with that minimal 110 oc (I just wanted to get it to roughly 2ghz because that seemed like a fun even number haha) Whole pc is a beast.. cpu coolercost about a third of mine... the entire case only has two front fans, fans that on mine cost about the same for two as his entire case cost hehe.... the jealousy is high  if it was i7 I wouldn't let it leave this building  Edit: I mean, I built this 3770k in hopes it would be 5ghz, couldn't get anywhere near that under stress tests... this 7600k i5 I don't think 5ghz is the limit hehe, might be able to push it to 51 / 52 ... with a cooler that has 1 single 120mm fan instead of my dual 140mm ones it just seems insane, and takes up about the third of the space... lol.. fans in this comp alone cost more than his mobo I think :D... think I have 7 140mm top of the line fans... comp I am building has 3 120mm fans, that is all :)
spookymunky
rofl, even just 11mV to this 110 mhz profile has smoothed out all the bumps I assumed were me installing it on hdd ... just insanity the whole point of nvidias thing is so we never have to worry about power / clocks etc.. should be automatic.. the fans should be automatic... this seems disgustingly made so only someone like me can understand it, someone with many years of overclocking gpus I mean Someone that notices thermal throtteling / power throtteling is a bad thing haha
spookymunky
If anyone with any knowledge of the 10 series and knows any better please tell me hehe... 18mV seems to have gotten rid of most of the spikes, but at the cost of an extra 5% on my fan curve.. now 55% under 100% load instead of 50 I mean. the odd spike is insanely unoticable though, so I am willing to say job is a good one ? hehe... I have to box up this pc tonight and unleash it into the wild so any last minute tips would be highly appreciated :D
spookymunky
I even made a manual of sorts hehe, any help with that would be amazing aswell ... https://pastebin.com/HGhLVziB I know it is very condescending, but this is an insanely intelligent friend (that has devoted his life to re-habilitating people with severe neural disabliities caused by strokes etc... ) he will not see it as me talking down to him hehe, just a holy f, you went to this much effort for a non pc user like me ? :)
iXenite
You really could have (and should have) just edited your first post rather than posting one after another. Just saying.
spookymunky
Noted I guess .. sorry if it offended you.. just been trying something new instead of creating a single post and making it something huge through edits that no-one will read... I guess the ideal solution is to just not speak

It's just that this forum has rules on double posting - and I wanted to basically let you know.
spookymunky
there are also strict rules against being someone without authority trying to tell other people how to use the forum, just a heads up in return  If you see an issue report it, that is all you should do. Edit: a more appropriate non ban worthy response if you are scared of breaking the rules but want to give me a helping hand in life is just send me a private message hehe, I don't normally bite and appreciate any help I can get, this is the wrong place to discuss it though.
