Annoying Geck Bug

You are talking about when you have the "WastelandNV" large world category open , or one of the small world category like "Freesideworld" ?

Then with the render window active you hold the space bar and move the the mouse pointer to drag the screen around? And if you are zoomed out far enough , you can see multiple exterior cells which are 4096 x 4096 units? Which you could only see their boundaries if you had the navmesh editor turned on ?

The problem with that , and the further you are zoomed out , it becomes very memory and processor intensive.

Which your machine may handle fine ... but the geck.exe itself should be set to use more than 2gb address space. Which I'm not sure if there is a patch for that like the game.exe ... but you can do it with this tool.

http://www.ntcore.com/exsuite.php

Also , if you have a bunch of other things running on your comp , I would shut those down , to avoid the processor from potentially hitting its peak capacity momentarily , while you are trying to drag the world around.

The geck can be testy at times , and eventually you get a feel for when and where to baby it ... :whistling:

So you can avoid this :wallbash:

However , I imagine I could be wrong and there is an actual bug causing what you're talking about ?

But my first guess is it is just lag due to hitting threshold limits.

Add edit : If you are trying to drag the map with navmesh editor open ... turn it off ... drag map ... then turn it back on to see the boundaries.

I'm working on a custom map. I believe this problem started after I began working on the border of the map but I'm not sure. All I can say is after I load a selected cell, other nearby cells load but navigating with the cell view window does not render any new cells. It is like the option is locked. Im able to work on my mod but navigating is a pain and this problem is messing with new files I work on not only one. I'll look into NTcore hope it helps.

You might want to look over the 'Solutions to "Garden of Eden Construction Kit" (G.E.C.K.) problems' section in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. It covers most of the problems involved in getting GECK configured. For instance, you can use the "FNV 4GB Patcher" to add the LAA flag to GECK as well as the NTCore tool.

You mean navigating within the Render window don't you ? And if there is nothing to click on in the cell ... (references) ... the land scape itself is not clickable ... just landscape objects you drop in and they become a reference.

Because then of course clicking in the nearby area's will not select anything and yeild a result in the cellview , that you can then hit "T" to bring your view just above that Item. Nor will you have a focal point to rotate your view around.

Have you tried to scroll the map with the space bar ? With the render window active (meaning its border is now colored and not greyed out ... clicking the header is the easiest way to make it active without accidently selecting something in it) But after it is active ... then hold the space bar , then move mouse. Don't use mouse buttons .

And with a nearly empty map , I doubt there is a memory issue ... but setting it up to use more than 2gb is a good thing to do anyways.

Is it possible you just set up your world space wrong ? Which I am not very versed in that ... so can't really say.

Is this your first world space creation ? And this is a large world map ... which does render landscape tiles beyond the map borders ... which of course are not clickable.
