Can't walk in 'Build Mode'

Rrplicant

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Is there a MOD or a workaround to maybe use WASD-keys for the build-mode interface so I can keep moving/walking with the arrow-keys?
I always use the arrow-keys for navigating my characters when I play (Strafe/walk/run and such).

And I just started to play Fallout 4, and noticed that the arrow-keys are assigned for navigating the 'Build-Mode' interface.
And thereby canceling out the possibility to walk while building/gathering resources.

I would appreciate the help :turned:

/Cheers!

FO4 script extender come with a CustomControlMap.txt which can be used to fix the issue. It allows you to configure most keybinding in the way you want. It's kind of a pain to do but, there are some old posts in this forum where I explain the process. I'll see If I can dig them up but, don't remember them off the top of my head.

@SharraShimada
"auto-hotkey"
-I have not tried auto-hotkey yet, but I will definitely look in to it :smile:

@chucksteel
"FO4 script extender"
Great tip, -it seems like a project in it self to get this in order,
But I see SE is used for allot of things, so I guess I'll eventually install it :thumbsup:

Thank you both for the replies! (=
-Just strange that Bethesda can't let users fully assign custom hotkeys in a 'modern' game..

(Moving around seems quite crucial in build-mode).
But I found the 'Auto-walk' button (x), it works for now ^^

Cheers!

I think they really hate southpaws to be honest! I use the arrow keys a left handed setup and in almost every Beth game I have to go through extraordinary measures just to play the game the way I want.

I fully understand! ^^

Same thing here, -I'm thinking it can't really be a technical thing from the game developers side, since giving the keys a custom-assign option can't be that problematic nowadays.

Especially not for a big developer like Bethesda..
