AleCuneo
Ok, someone on the Steam Community helped me to get it running again. He told me to delete the SSE Fix mod. I didn't actually do that but I did rename the folder to DLLPlugins_bak and now the game runs without doing an instant CTD.

Could you please give a more descriptive instruction on what exactly you did? Very eager to play again, so it would be very greatly appreciated!!! He told me that most people have installed the SSE Fix mod and asked whether I had that too? I looked and indeed I did have it so he told me to delete it. Well first I tried disabling it in NMM but that made no difference. As I didn't want to delete the mod completely because it only needs an update from its author, I changed the folder name from DLLPlugins to DLLPlugins_bak and that did the trick. The game now runs normally again. Please note I do NOT have SKSE64 or SkyUI installed so if you have either of those perhaps this may not work for you. Try it anyway if you have the SSE Fix mod installed. Failing that, you can download the previous SkyrimSE.exe file from http://steamcommunity.com/app/489830/discussions/0/1480982971182559509/

AleCuneo
I also have CTD and have SSE Fix installed. Thank you sooo much for the tip  Good to hear it worked for you. :)Just don't forget that without the SSE Fix your frame rates are likely to worsen to around 40 fps so open NMM, place your cursor over the SSE Fix mod and right click so you can set it to warn you when an update becomes available. If you don't use NMM then click the track button on the mod page itself. Another solution is to download the previous SkyrimSE.exe file from the link above and replace the latest updated version with it. Rename the new one to SkyrimSE_bak.exe first so you can reactivate it later when SSE Fix has been updated. This will allow you to use SSE Fix again now and keep your higher frame rates. vertikal
A well kept secret: How to roll back game versions in Steam these days: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=889624474 The following will sound pretty complicated, but it really isn't (Though admittedly, would be better if Steam simply had an in-built function): First, you have to enable console in the Steam client. You do so by adding '-console' to the your Steam shortcut target... Just go to shortcut properties, find 'Target' and make it look like this: C:\...\Steam\Steam.exe - console. Restart Steam... If you don't have a shortcut, make one... Then follow the instructions linked:Both SSE core and SSE exe have been updated, so it is probably wise to download both. However, if you are impatient, you can test if it's sufficient to simply downloading the old .exe (should be quick). If SKSE won't accept the old exe, I have posted my solution to that in the comment section at the linked site. Look for safariBehn... Don't use any brackets on the console command, not even these [ ] for the manifest ID, just use plain numbers.
cdredz
SKSE64 FIXSpread these steps! That's how you solve this nonsense. Show them!1. Start by pressing win+R, and then pasting: steam://nav/console2. A steam console should appear now, just paste the following line: download_depot 489830 489833 9112817575115766553. The v1.5.3 exe will downloaded to [...]steamapps/content/app_489830/depot_4898334. Just go to where the exe was downloaded and paste the old exe inside your root skyrim folder replacing the "new" one. This Works
