Arte1107
Hello! I have been a lurker in the mod community for a long time and wish to thank all of you for the wonderful mods. I started fiddling with these programs not too long ago and I intend to provide a trouble shooting resource for the community when I finally get things done. I have been to the end of Google and back for suggestions on these and am still stuck. I am using Nexus Mod Manager to download FNIS at the moment and used the default NMM settings for file location, mod location, and download location. It is installed in my Skyrim Folder in Steamapps, not in the data folder. I have opened Nexus Mod Manager as an administrator, downloaded FNIS 7xx, 7, 6xx, and 6 at separate times from the Nexus website to see if it would generate the intended outcome of creating the Tools file in the Skyrim Data file. I have manually installed FNIS with no different outcome and extracting it into the data file. I have been told to move mod manager into the steamapps folder but that caused none of the animations to register. For this write up, I have deinstalled creatures from my last FNIS run, I have just downloaded FNIS 7 and FNIS 7XXL and have activated FNIS 7 asking for all files to be read from FNIS 7. I installed FNIS 7XXL asking it to read all the files in FNIS 7XXL. I installed Creature pack and spells pack. I closed NMM and am looking for FNIS generate users I added the skeleton addition, the hkx patch, and the gender specific animations. As of right now, I can fun FNIS through NMM and my animations load...badly giving this error at the beginning: >>Warning: Bad installation. Generator not run from <Skyrim_Data>\Tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users.<<Skyrim 32bit: ??.??.?? - This seems to be where it is running FNIS from: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\ (Steam) So it seems that it failed to create the tools folder. Expected generator path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users I have tried to mirror the desired path file and it hasn’t worked. As has happened before, I cannot locate Generate_FNIS for users anywhere on my computer after the install probably cause I don’t really know how to use the Microsoft search function. I previously had been able to hunt it down but it isn’t even in the last file path NMM used last time. I did the same thing last week when installing NMM and FNIS and it worked perfectly. I changed from an unregistered copy of Windows 10 to a registered copy of Windows 10 and I have found that most of my menus do not mimic tutorials such as: Making a program always run as administrator, in addition to accidentally downloading Skyrim Special Edition which I plan to return. All of the FNIS tutorials have very old copies of FNIS and I have also tried to mirror the file path request of the error and it has not resolved. My best guess is firewall interference but again, I don’t really know. I am having a problem with LOOT. It isn’t reading my plugins. I have tried loading it through NMM and there is no register of plugins. I ran the LOOT installer and installed it to the default location in program files: C:\Program Files (x86)\LOOT And it only found these plugins 00Skyrim.esm01Update.esm02Dawnguard.esm03HearthFires.esm04Dragonborn.esm05HighResTexturePack01.esp06HighResTexturePack02.esp07HighResTexturePack03.espHere is what I have tried to do to work around this. I have installed it directly into the NMM folder, I have installed it into the Skyrim Folder, and also into the NMM Mods folder. I don’t think I have installed it into the data folder yet but I don’t really want to try that unless I know it will/might work. I have had a lot of issues with Windows firewall silently taking parts of files during its passage through program files. I will also say that I do not have a second hard drive and also failed to disconnect from Steam Cache before I started though I have not updated the cache since I began. I had previous mods in the Steam Cache, but they are not found in my mod list in NMM. Thank you for your time. I will be back with some content to repay you for all of your help. fore
If you have problems with a mod (or tool like FNIS) you should first go to the mod's comment section. Now post your FULL Generator output, not only what you think is important. It's not enough.
Kroekr
Installing your mods/games in the Program Files (86) directory can cause problems from UAC (permissions) issues. I recommend just making a Games folder off the root directory.
