Slyckquid
i've been teaching myself to mod my fallout 4 but i'm not sure i'm doing it correct i had to make my own fallout 4 custom.ini file but after that i'm not sure which fallout folder too put it in . there's the first one and then the one with the regular ini file in it all by itself when i had it in that folder i could only get the mods too spawn after that i couldn't use them on any workbenches even the modded workbenches after i downloaded them. if i have power armor on that is moded it just tells me i have no armor equipped even know i can f*#@in see it lol , and same for weapons and reg armor they don't show up in my inventory when i'm at the bench i purged all the mods i had but one in hopes to find a solution and i have had no luck. if there's anyone that would be willing too help me on discord and kinda walk me thou what i'm doing wrong i would be in your debt please . AGreatWeight
Ignoring the slightly dismissive response above, I'd advise you check some of the following out, to help you learn the basics of modding your game.Gopher's video tutorials are insightful and geared towards first time mod users; I'd recommend you watch them on youtube, rather than embedded here in the forum. This one explains how to correctly set things up for modding [iNI files etc] Enabling modding for PCwhilst this one is about using NMM to install mods Fallout 4: Installing mods using Nexus Mod ManagerThere's also a wealth of information at your fingertips, here in the forums, although there'll be times where you'll have to do some digging. This forum post [ Fallout 4 Beginners Guide ] is very informative regarding learning to mod your game, even if there are some parts I don't personally agree with, I'll still recommend it to those users just starting out who feel a bit overwhelmed.Plenty of fellow users are willing to help out on the forums, should you get stuck with an issue, and can't find a solution... so if you've exhausted all other avenues and searching high and low yields no results, just ask.It all comes down to knowledge and experience, which you will eventually accumulate. so it will take some time to learn the best way to set up mods, based on the kind of mods you use. For now, I'd advise you to take it slowly until you get to grips.
Rabbit1251
Fallout 4 is a little more difficult to mod than it's predecessors. Just follow these easy to understand guides from our friend Gopher on YouTube. First off install the Nexus Mod Manager: https://rd.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/modmanager/. Use it to download and install your mods. Read the notes on the mod that you wish to download and pay particular attention to the installation guide. If it says that you will need F4SE you can find it here: http://f4se.silverlock.org/. Use Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S46KHM2zBM0. View this on how to set up Fallout 4 for modding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgUbpIzdpGY. View this for how to use the Nexus Mod Manager to use your mods: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAKcAEn6hLg. These should have you modding your game in no time. If a lowly rabbit can do it anyone can. Any questions just ask. The Rabbit
yian
Yer thinking is all wrong. Players can't jump into modding PC games & expect it to work or even be fun. It can get interesting the first couple of years, but it's a real nightmare to get it to work. Stability & refined choice takes years & years. Find a veteran & get a copy of their install on disc or something. Unless you can find a guide that tells you specifically what to use & where to get it, how to install it, where to put it, what to change about it, what to test for. It would be like walking outside into the rain & trying to collect raindrops with your finger & thumb in order to fill a bucket, and the rain drops are different colors. You know, it's fairly important what color the water is when the bucket is full. So go find people that have already done this 5-10 years & know what they are doing. STEP used to make guides, but like of ultimate compatibility in particular. Lots of players make them for one thing or the other. Then you can always get FO3/FNV/SKY to install mods on that just to see how bad you messed it up. Then take what you learned over to the game you wanted to build right. I'd build you one sure, because I'm already doing that. It takes a few months or longer to get 400-500 mods just to make FO4 fun. Weeks of work & testing over a couple of months to get a fun, stable, and final version. Whatever you do, work towards being to do anything you want in a few years. NO. This is not how modding works. No one learns how to mod a game like this. Absolutely no one.
