GomuGomu64
Its what applies fixes, and once the beta is finished, will apply new kill cams. Ya don't need it, unless your going to edit quests/re-placement of vanilla objects, etc.
MrDGrim
so if im going to use the vanila stuf to make a new house and add my own quests i wont need it?
GomuGomu64
As long as you don't move anything that's already been placed (Like the Bannered mare in Whiterun), you should be safe.

ch0k3h0ld
So are you saying you do need it if you are modifying the existing items in the game? A lot of people are reporting odd results when they work in existing spaces.

Tamb0
Don't delete your Update.esm or Update.bsa. That's the file that Bethesda put the bug fixes in. Rather than package it again in the Skyrim.esm, they package them in smaller update files so you don't have to download a 240Mb file again, just for a 12Kb update. The same with the Update.bsa. They may add or fix a texture that's only 50Kb. No point in you downloading a 1Gb + file for a 50Kb fix. When the game loads, it will read the Skyrim.esm first and then it will read the Update.esm. Any newer files in the Update.esm (or Update.bsa files) will overwrite older Skyrim.esm files (or your normal bsa files). This is the same way your mods work, only it's the .esp files that overwrite the Skyrim.esm information (and Update.esm) [Edit] I should have added that your TESV.exe and SkyrimLauncher.exe are (of course) not part of this update system.[Also fixed a few typos] Edited March 16, 2012 by Tamb0

RabbitYeah, I would say move them to another folder, if you want. The thing is, these files are meant to help fix buggy code, so why would you want to move them ?On the other side of the coin, they sometimes bring more bugs than they fix :D
