redz06
I just purchased the Skyrim to play on a PC. Most other games allow you to sign in to the Windows and provide each user with separate database thus allowing you to play the games from scratch. It seems Skyrim is tied to Steam and cloud file system. So, even when my son logs in to Windows using his ID, the game itself is tied to one Steam account. So I created the 2nd Steam account for my son. But, I can't link the Skyrim product code to allow him to play as it is tied to my acct. What does one do in this case? TheBestIdiot122
Steam only allows one CD-code per account, so you have to buy a new Skyrim for him to have separate saves est. Edited March 16, 2012 by TheBestIdiot122
etawakimasi
Unfortunately, it is as you say. The game is tied to an individual account of Steam. You would have to rebuy the game on the second account if you wanted a separate Steam account for him. If you want your son to play on his own windows account, all he would have to do is log on your steam account. EDIT: The easy (but somewhat inconvienient) way to remedy this would be to have duplicate copies of your Skyrim data and save folders so you and your son would just have to rename it. This will allow the both of you to use your various mods and saves.
redz06
I figured as much. :( In that case, what is the easiest way to handle multiple saved files so I don't get confused with his saves and him with mine? Can you name the saves so it starts out with Dad xxxx and Son xxxx ?

Can you name the saves so it starts out with Dad xxxx and Son xxxx ?I used a version of this Save Game Manager in FO3 and FONV for multiple different characters and it worked very nicely: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=15 There is another one on the Nexus at http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4068 but I haven't tried it. a7x5631
Just manually save, instead of quicksave, autosave, etc. Plus it wouldn't hurt to make a backup folder in your documents and throw in a copy of your saves in there. Just in case one got overwritten on accident.
SergeantGrrock
you could try this: I haven't tried it but your post inspired me to look it up. I think I might give it a go. I've never liked the way the Beth save games works. To me it gets convoluted and confusing. I'd prefer to name my OWN save games thank you very much. Edit: I just tested this method and it works GREAT! Wish I'da known this at level one. Edited March 16, 2012 by Sergeant Rock
