Welcoming screen freeze

Hey guys.

 

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, so bear with me please. The problem I have is that my Windows 7 64 bit Professional occasionally freezes at the welcoming screen just after I input my password. This happens when my PC has been turned off for a while and doesn't occur again right away once I reboot with the reset button. I tried repairing with my install disc but setup says it can't do it (possibly because it's ancient pre-SP1 installer), but I have most updates downloaded including SP1 too, so I don't know how to stop this from happening.

 

Looking at the even logs, I found these 2 errors right after the winlogon entry.

 

First: The following service is not starting: server service

Second: Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the ShellHW Detection service

 

If anyone has a suggestion what I can do besides full reinstall, I'd very much like to ask them.
