Classic "CTD Help me"

Hello. I just got the Fall creator's update and was really excited to dive back into skyrim after a while of not playing. I was able to play for a while when it suddenly started CTD-ing on exterior locations. I can load the game inside and then go outside for a few seconds, but it always crashes after a bit. I ended up reinstalling all of skyrim and my mods, essentially starting from square one. I followed the STEP guide and installed everything on there, checking to see if the game runs every so often. I got to the end of the guide, only installing the mods on the STEP Guide, LaL-alternate start and PerMa . I still have the same issue. Hoping one of you guys can help me--this is very frustrating and I have no clue what to do.

EDIT: So the issue appears to be DynDOLOD. I can use the "DynDOLOD Resources" mod, but actually using the Lodgen-generated files make it crash. Anyone know of a solution?

This didn't help this particular issue, but this will help me a lot in the future thanks!

Have you tried with 'playing' with the load order manually? In case of mods conflicting this does help once in a while :)

I just noticed something that may be the cause, as I understand the mods, these files should be below the bashed patch ALSO

My suggestion to you would be to go back and read EACH description page for each mod and make sure they are placed where they need to be

I sorted those and locked load order, still no help. It just seems to be random. Still crashes mainly on exterior locations, usually CTD or infinite load screen. Im unsure what to do.

At any time did you remove a mod with out starting a new character. This is a #1 rule that you NEVER do this.

 

In this case i would suspect a texture or mesh mod since it is only affecting outside areas.

 

Another thing you can try is to go into your My documents and rename the skyrim folder so that it looks like this - \Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition BACKUP - then run the vanilla launcher and redo all your settings, then try the game.

 

If it doesn't work, just delete the new folder and then remove BACKUP from the old one :smile:
