Cleaning up Your Fallout Data

Okay, so I have FAR too many mods downloaded, and don't really know how to unload them SAFELY. It seems lots of mods have very specific steps for removing them, and since so many interact with eachother, figuring out the ORDER to do so is tricky. I don't know much about computers, so I kind of worry that even if I remove most of those mods, there will still odd bits of data in my game that don't match up right, leading to poorer performance, glitches, and a decent chance that I'll end up doing something wrong in the process that will just make the whole thing crash.

I honestly don't know how you all do it! How do you download a dozen different mods that add features to settlement building, know which patches to download, know which order to download them, know which bits of code may not play nice, all knowing that one mistake could REALLY mess things up? I'm stuck with a dozen holotapes that supposedly are needed for settings, many of which don't really explain what any of their buttons do, all using acronyms I don't know, and just being really vague and confusing. How do you know which item sorter works with which HUD modification, and remember which mods you may need to uninstall and reinstall with a compatibility plug-in for some new mod you didn't have back when you first installed it, and what order to do it in? How do you do these things when you're clearly instructed to make a new save, close the game, make your ONE change, re-open the game, make another save, and close the game, before doing so AGAIN, before moving on to the NEXT step of some other mod that needs changing now that you messed with the first one?

..........Okay, really all I wanted here was to say that I have lots of mods, need to ditch about half of them, they're all REALLY big and complicated, and I'm pretty sure I'm just not good enough to do so without horribly wrecking my current game. My saves only go back so far, and I'm not sure at which point I installed any specific mods, so using an airier save wouldn't help regardless. So, how do I clean up my Fallout files, and KEEP things organized in the future? There are so many mods, many of which do the same thing in different ways, and MANY of which conflict with eachother unless you use this patch here, and install in this specific order, hundreds of times, with things constantly changing, updates to old mods constantly happening, etc.

Here's hoping someone can direct me towards a better way of handling things in the future......or at least cleaning things up this once!
