Invisible Weapons

I've been modding for a while now and everything is running smoothly for the most part. but when I attempt to use any weapon mods like Magicka Sabers, they are invisible in the game

Am i missing something or is my mac (yes I'm using a mac) just not compatible with those kind of mods?

I am running windows and I have been having trouble with this concerning armor and weapons. It didn't happen at first..then some weapons started turning invisible..or pure black..I uninstalled all my mods and I had to do a clean install anyway for other reasons. I installed a 40k space marines armor mod..turned me completely invisible..no one else is having the problem, and im stumped.

I am checking around..did you use Steam workshop or Nexus (if nexus, let me guess you used NMM right?) for the magicka sabers mod?

I got this too but i got it fixed: Don not download the mod with NMM, just do it manually.

When downloaded, just put the .esp/.esm folder in data, but wait with the .bsa .

Extract the . bsa file with a extractor, place the extracted files in the textures/meshes/scripts/etc. manually.

That's the way I've been doing it, but tonight out of nowhere my Daedric bow became invisible. I started turning off mods to see if that was the problem, none of them seemed to be it. My glass sword and elven bow are invisible as well. I have a backup of my main skyrim folder (thank god for that) but before I go remodding and moving save files I want to know if there's an easier route. I checked the textures, scripts, meshes and everything was pretty much there, I just deleted some leftover folders from mods I deleted. But thats about it.

For now I just want to play and ignore the issue, but it's going to bug me in the back of my head, so if anybody has any coolio ideas I would really appreciate it

This typically will happen if you have a mesh (or texture) problem with an item. You will also start getting CTD's if you open inventories and the item is a level list item and happened to find its way on the searched corpes/chest/whatever.

 

If you have weapon and equipment mods, specifically ones you know are acting up, go through the mods that provide the item. Make sure you have all the pre-requisites for that mod, and that any uninstall was properly performed as per the mod's author. Some mods require manual removal of things before you can upgrade to a newer version.

 

Before you change anything, make a good clean save somewhere inside a house or somewhere and unequip any items you will be changing the mod for. If you have an item that grants bonus's, you could find your character stats to be messed up if you remove an enchanted item (mod) and that item is still equipped.

I'll try this now, I never thought about how it could mess up my character if it was still equipped. Also, for some reason all of my chests and belongings don't have my name on them. instead of "Riddick's Chest" it just says "'s Chest" wonder if that has anything to do with the issue?

Ok, so I deleted (after backing it up) the data folder in dawnguard, then added my backup data folder that I had backed up way before the issues started. I then added some of the newer mods that I used yesterday, all of which are simple esp or bsa files, and the issues persist. Bow is invisible, and to make things worse, my carry weight is stuck permanently at 888 after I got rid of all my gear. this is not a big deal because i play in god mode all the time, but it's driving me bonkers, what the hell is going on here?

Bazinga! Thank Hircine I finally found the culprit! I had to keep turning mods on and off and used the good ol process of elimination, it ended up being the Mountaintop Castle mod. Now I can find the modder and warn him of the issues so hopefully noone else has to go through this. THanks for all the help, and to all the new modders like me just remember to back up your entire skyrim folder, not just the data folder, after every new mod install :)

Now to slay some dragons with my unicorn and magicka sabers. VICTORY OR SOVNGARDE!

I'm so glad you were able to hunt down the culprit. It can take a while if you have many mods loaded and make you wish you could pull out your own teeth. Enjoy your newly found game, 1 less error to worry about ;)
