Fallout New Vegas Random CTD (Tried multiple solutions)

sores

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm having CTD that as far as I can tell are completely random. Sometimes it crashes during game load, sometimes it loads fine. I'll be playing fine for 10 minutes and then it'll crash again.

I have legit FONV with NVSE and 4GB exe patch ( the new one).

I have also implemented "Solutions to "Crash To Desktop" (CTD) problems" and "Issue: Recent (post-Win10 FCU) CTDs after 10-20 minutes of play" from the http://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Fallout_NV_Mod_Conflict_Troubleshooting.

For some reason, I'm not permitted to attach the error log files so I have linked them here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16WUSHSkpAF7vChwvFFkYNve0YDVFHc7b?usp=sharing

Thanks for your help!

Sorry no one got back to you in a more timely fashion. (Seems I missed your posting at the time.)

You have covered the obvious solutions, so I'm afraid I have little more to offer. However, your "load order" is a little too alphabetical in my experience (especially ILO), leading me to wonder if you have tried sorting it with LOOT? "Compatibility patches" to make one mod work with another need to be placed after (as in "physically lower, higher numbered") in the "load order" than both of the plugins they are designed to make compatible. ESMs should always be placed at the top (lowest numbered) positions in the "load order", followed by the related ESPs though they can be separated from their ESMs by other plugins. LOOT does a good job of determining those basic orders. Getting the "load order" incorrect will cause "Missing Master" errors as well.

You really need to use a "Merge Patch File" with that collection of mods. Please see the 'Third Rule: The Rule of One' and 'Merge Patch File' sections of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

The forum software doesn't really permit "attachments" of any kind. You would have to put them on another site and use the "URL Link" icon on the "Reply to this topic" page menu bar to point to it (as you did).

Kudos on a thorough list of logs. Unfortunately none of them had a :smoking gun" pointing to your problem. However, I did notice that the "sr_New_Vegas_Stutter_Remover.log" had entries:

bPreserveHighFreqComponents=0 bPreserveHighFreqComponents=0
replacing libc rand(), srand()
Critical Sections mode 3 (staggered prioritization)
uhook_GetTickCount bPreserveDC_Bias=1 Sync=0ms bForceResolution=1 sed 38 hashtable size overrides

among others, which mine (on Win7) didn't. Those lines make me wonder if you did actually disable the "bHookCriticalSections" (by setting it =0). If you did, then you may be one of those cases that needs to disable NVSR completely. Worth a test anyway. It occurs to me it may be possible your mod manager is keeping a copy of the NVSR.INI file. MO uses its own copies of "Fallout.ini" and "FalloutPrefs.ini" (from when the MO profile was created), located in the "<Steam install path>\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Mod Organizer\profiles\<Your Profile Name>" folder. Such file copies (if they exist) need to be changed as well.
