Hello, I've played Skyrim for many hours after it's release and I stopped for a good 2 years. I'm back now, forgot all the mods I used, and was wondering what are some basic foundation of mods to download? I know Dance of Death Killmove is a must for me. Any thing new thats a must? I remember using SKSE something like that. Do I still need to use that extender? Little help please! Thanks!

Yes, the latest SKSE is still a must for many mods.

And the Unofficial patches are still essential, as are several of Arthmoor's Mods. And, for me SkyUI.

It depends what version of Skyrim you have:

Vanilla

Vanilla + DLC

Legendary

Second (Special?) Edition - SSE

So check that out and then make sure you use the latest mods and Unofficial patches for that version.

If you have the original Vanilla Skyrim plus separate DLCs, they will be installed, patched and verified through Steam. You should be able to check this through your Steam Library.

The USKP and corresponding Unofficial Patches (UDBP, UDGP, UHFP, IIRC) are still available from probably The Nexus and also AFK Mods. They are no longer updated and supported, though, as they decided to switch to a single patch for Legendary Edition. At some point, they will stop supporting that (if they have not already) in favour of SSE.

If you have Skyrim Legendary Edition, it's an all-in-one package and will have the DLC included, fullly patched, and the licence verified through Steam when you install. Most of the actual game has to be downloaded and patched, anyway. Not much is on the DVD, just like with the original plus separates.

What I did was get the UK version from Amazon and I think I bought one DLC, maybe DB. But when Legendary Edition came out, the disk was cheaper from Amazon than getting the other two DLC from Steam, so I switched.

But if you have Legendary, you are entitled to a free upgrade to SSE anyway. It's in my Library but I never updated to it. I am also not very keen on the Creation Club and I hate stealth updats, so I'd have to make sure that they are turned off and I play in off-line mode. I'm not entirely sure if this free "upgrade" to SSE applied to the original plus separate DLCs or just SLE.

But you could also sign up at AFK Mods if you are not a member. You'll get more up-to-date info about the versions and Unofficial Patches from there.
