Skauldomir
Does Bethesda support this ModDrop in any way? What famous Youtubers are plugging this ModDrop? If Bethesda acknowledges that modders own their mods, then it seems this is the stuff of litigation rather than modders taking the ball and going home.  So what does this ModDrop have to do with the Nexus? Well ModDrop steals content from the Nexus as well as other mod sites. That is what it has to do with the Nexus. MxR and ESO are supporting it, though MxR removed a few videos from what I heard that plugged it. Ultimate Immersion might be supporting it, or the idea of it, going off a video where he said he and ESO are working together on an app for allowing 1 click downloads of mods. While people can go after the uploaders that stole by hitting them with DMCA, they can't do it to the site itself. They make you sign up to access anything unlike here because they want to lock you in to their shady ass agreement, that says you can't DMCA ModDrop you have to take it up with the "author". That is why it will be hard to get them to go away because you can't touch ModDrop only the uploaders who stole like ESO, he made a 130 modpack from what I briefly viewed on his channel. Also fun side note: They supposedly uploaded Bethesda clean files which is illegal! Edited December 23, 2017 by Skauldomir
Crosstieger
So what does this ModDrop have to do with the Nexus? Mods from Nexus are getting uploaded (stolen) to Mod Drop and little or no credits are provided. Nm. Already answered. bajs11
I blame this and everything bad that happened on the Creation Club.Seriously though, I wonder how Bethesda's little tool to earn more money is doing well.I mean Rockstar made tons of money on Shark cards but they also gave you the choice to earn in-game money by playing the game. Why couldn't Bethesda do the same? I think beth has little control over this satiation. But I think that was sarcasm anyway. And how would you be able to earn the credits? Certain quest? Achievement? People who already unlocked / done them would have a big disadvantage. Theoretical requiring a new play through. In GTA Online you have to participate in events, complete missions etc in order to earn money. There are actually many ways to get rich. They also constantly release free new contents. All the things you want/need in the game could be obtained by either buying Shark cards or playing the game.At least they don't charge 5 real life US dollars for some crappy car they just released. That's what I call greed. Most of if not all of the mods in CC are pretty useless. Have they actually released mods that add new features, like finally making weapons visible when holstered like in FO 3 and NV (i am using Visible weapons but its far from perfect)? The only free mod they have released is that lame "high res" texture pack that looks crap and occupies like 60gb on your ssd

Because, well.. Fo is a single player game.. But even then, Fo has very little repeatable events / quests. And in addition to that, you could easily abuse the console to finish whatever objects needs to be completed to earn the credits. But this is not the focus of this thread. Crosstieger
Heads up: Eso just uploaded a apologize video and Elianora stated she will unhide her mods. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMeNRwTKk1o Elianora Thank you. I know it's not easy to always see the mod author point of view in modding, I know we can be a dramatic and selfish bunch, but we pour our hearts and souls into our creations and we love this community. Misconduct using our work really gets to us.. I KNEW you weren't trying to be malicious or rip off mod authors. I totally get where you're coming from wanting to help everyone easily access modding. My grudge was always with ModDrop, not with you or other YouTubers. I am unhiding my mods thanks to this video. Thank you :)

fftfan
This ModDrop stuff is pretty crazy IMO. Like what's the point in stealing stuff? Seems like the dumbest idea ever IMO, are they just a bunch of kids trying to troll? Also how do we retain proof that our work is ours? Like that I made a particular model/texture, since it's not hard to just go in take screenshots with deletions to show a "WIP".

I also don't have sympathy for people wanting it to be easier. gamer poets made a really good video about the subject, and that if people can't learn the nuances of installing mods, we won't have a new generation of great mod authors in the future. Textures aren't created as a texture file, they're created in Photoshop or GIMP or other such programs.Keep your source files. If someone says it's theirs, and you have a GIMP file showing all of the different layers that went into the texture before it was converted to a .dds, with the date of last update listed, the other guy is going to have a pretty hard time proving his case over yours. I agree, but only half I understand that mod users would like modding to be easier and more accessible, and perhaps even download entire game overhauls with a click of a button But at the same time, I also think that with modding a game, there should come the understanding that a lot of mods do things that the game wasnt necessarily designed to doIts like taking a device and making it do something it wasnt made forWith doing that, one should understand that there is a chance that said device could break due to the manner you operated it other than what it was designed forAnd if you break it and cant fix it, thats your own responsibility, not the responsibility of whoever designed the device In shorter words, dont mod your game if you cant fix it when you break it
