cossayos
Here's a simple procedure for people having frequent CTDs. Just call up task manager and while the game is running, set the FO4 exe to high priority. I found that solution on a german website and it seems to have solved the issue. It seems that CTDs always occured when the game spiked for one reason or the other and the rig couldn't allocate sufficient resources in time. 21crescendo
I've been having intermittent CTDs pretty much every time when my character has to sprint through 'dense' areas like the Financial District or some parts of the Eastern coast line during random NPC fights and engagements. My rig is fine tbh (i7 4790k, GTX 1060 6GB, 16 GB ram) and can output 60 FPS average despite a heavily modded, but clean setup. Going to try this right now and report back. I observed it before and after on task manager. Before the exe constantly switched places with other processes taking higher priorities. After it stayed on top. It's the spikes that obviously matter and lead to CTDs. Sometimes my hard drive shows a useage of 99 percent, somtimes the CPU useage spikes. Ram seems to be fine. 21crescendo
Seems to be working fine at the moment. No CTDs, just got mowed down a lot by raiders/gunners/rust devils a lot due to sprinting like an idiot. Changing task priorities has to be done each time I launch FO4 right? But it's a small price to pay for a stable game. I just about had it with all the CTDs.
TheGadget1945
Often when I get a CTD it is immediately followed by that meaningless Windows notification about "basic colour scheme" etc. I have looked up info on how to reset this nonsense but nothing I can do will stop it happening. If I click "do not show this message again" it still appears.
