What happened to me was I was in the bug pit in the ashes of Ariandel dlc and ran out of estus when this guy invaded. It was a 1v1 duel and the guy used estus twice and of course I lost. I decided to challenge him to a 1v1 on top of the church building and the instant I get in the game he decides to use a great bow and kill me off spawn.
