Blender Export Help

Hey guys I just finished a model of a mask for one of my end-game creatures.

 

However since I borrowed pieces from another mesh (some twisty whirly bits) I got permission for when I exported the mask objects as a single nif only one object showed up in game. So I figured it must have been that since I made the original object but imported some other objects on top of it that there must be multiple armatures and its only using one.

 

So I loaded up the file again, deleted the armature, loaded up the vanilla default skeleton and parented the objects to that armature and hit "don't create vertex groups" because they should have already been weight painted.

 

Now nothing shows up in-game even though the nif file looks perfect :/

Went back and reimported the meshes. Deleted all armatures.

 

Then I imported the original vanilla skeleton again and parented. This time I created vertex groups from bone heat. Then I deleted all vertex groups for each object except for the one for the head bone.

 

Then I weight painted them all to the head bone.

 

Then selected all and exported.

 

Loaded up game...

 

Nothing shows up.

Well, I've got it to show up in-game although now the placement is wayyyyyy off.

 

I'll see if I can upload the files to a 4shared or something so I can send them to ya.

 

Do you want the .nif or the .blend file? And do you care if you get the textures as well? Just trying to figure out how to package it beings it's attached to my main mod right now.

In between when I first posted and now... I might have been messing with the blender file and deleted the armature when I was removing a bunch of mesh pieces I was working on. And I quicksaved over it :psyduck:, So that might have messed it up further. I'm so tired now I need a break, my head's not working properly...

Anyways, what part is the helmet? I see there are ears and earings and boots. I assume you want everything on the head as the mask?

 

Also, you have about 3-4000 thousand duplicated unused verts. Is that for a reason, or shall I clear them?

Oh look at the nif file. It has the actual helmet in it. I was just using the body to rig different pieces of gear to to make sure they were in the correct position.

 

It's the mask, the little mohawk thingy, and the feathers around the mask as you can see in the nif file.

Mind filling me in on what you did to make it work? I have done things like this before when I was working on my armor for this mod but that was last year and I've mostly forgotten :(

The link is in my post. And can you delete the parts you do not need in Nifskope? You should be able to just remove the branch.

 

And I did not do anything different. I just unparented everything, loaded in a new skeleton, parented everything to the skeleton, then rigged it again.

 

It is crucial that you unparent everything, otherwise you will wind up with multiple scene roots, which will make it invisible like you described in your second post.
