alphabeticjunk
I've been working (still far from goal) of having a bunch of mods working together. Have become aware of obmm, mostly passed it though still use occasionally for difficult to convert omods (usually ones with scripts) and mostly use wryebash now I try to be conscious of install order, and know updates need to installed after and load order -- I just usually let BOSS handle it. I'm playing or trying to play a demoness..(from DemonRace). though I'm not happy w/the skin I selected -- as in different light, it doesn't look right. And there's the wings - always seem to be in the way! But am not used to them either. I was able to roll her up during a brief moment of 'sanity' from the race picker (right now it's back to broken, I have a feeling some of the race addons I have are making it unhappy. but BP2 & the demon race got along well enough. Really wanted to see what the kawa khajitts (sp?) looked like.. but that's not one I've made work yet... I was also able to select vampires and such but haven't seen them for a while. All this testing.. add, something broke... binary search... uninst mods/ reinst half, etc... gets a bit dry after a while. So trying to take a bit of respite and go with the demoness I rolled up. Problem I can't play for long before my game develops a 'stutter' -- action freezes, then contines. It starts out at 0, but after 10-20 minutes of play, its consuming about 2-3 sec out of 4-5. Hard to get things done. Hardware is barely getting warmed up...GPU ~ 60% max(GTX590), CPU even less so at maybe 10-25% (of 6 cores), No spikes in either cpu or gpu anywhere close to 100%, so it's NOT really a perf problem. something is forcing me into a wait state. I **did** have the stutter-remover installed, thought it might be doing the opposite -- made no difference one way or the other. It seems like it is a script based effect that is doing waits that increase over time. Anyone seen this type of behavior before in any mods? -- it takes so long to come on -- it's time consuming to do a binary search for the behavior, Not to mention, if I disable wide swathes of modules, my char(s) might not load...being "customs". It is on the frustrating side! Ideas (or Q's?) (besides comments about all the duct-tape on my mods....but didn't feel so bad when I heard it wasn't uncommon for people to hit the 256 limit)...;-)
HeyYou
What's your memory usage look like over time? Do you see more harddrive activity as the problem gets worse?
alphabeticjunk
What's your memory usage look like over time? Do you see more harddrive activity as the problem gets worse? No notable spikes on the graphs (going off of 'Process Hacker running the the background and looked at its graphs after a session. I tried running the 3G version of Ob (setting the LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE flag in the EXE header) but got no sound (.. odd on a x64 machine), so reverted that, thus OB only has a full 2GB addr space (upper 2GB always reserved for OS) in a 4GB address space. Machine wise... it has 48G, that's not reaching more than a fraction of usage. System usage of all resources is reasonably low -- with graphics card @60% being the topper. Vid mem max usage was ~380MB(/1.5G). I tried disabling (removed mod in WrBash) the stutter remover, since it can try to smooth things out if it thinks your frame rate is too low -- but as near as I could tell, 1) removing it made no difference, and 2) it shouldn't have been a likely culprit in the 1st place, given it's function.... Frame rates in the dungeon... following Septim and his 2 bodyguards and me walking with wings flapping, --- it doesn't appear to freeze and neither does the music stop playing. One more symptom -- crash on exit. I've started paring down mods again -- I get about 5-10 minutes per entry before the lags get too long and it gets frustrating. Oh... disk -- virtually no I/O... they are SSD's, not likely to cause much delay.. For the heck of it -- will add Boss log below. I believe I've edited out most of the ones that are not active...I'm winnowing the list to see if it goes away. alphabeticjunk
Source or 'trigger' of bug found. Last time when it got really bad (about 1 second on for 4 seconds off) -- I got out of the game to look at the running binary.in Process Hacker to look at the threads and see what they were waiting for. The process as a whole was using almost a full 1% cpu !!! WOW!... *cough*.. Several threads were busiest competing for that 1%... several of the busiest were in amultimedia MS library called quartz.dll. Clustered with these waiting processes was the the "EnhancedMusicControl" -- something that tries to make the music more coherently fit the mood. I tried disabling it. *Bingo*. No growing stuttering. Still crashes on exit though. C'est La Vie...
HeyYou
Get fast exit 2. That will solve your crash on exit problems. Glad you solved the rest. :D
