dup3w4sh1ngt0n
Hi!Recently, while in trying to re-enter the Commonwealth/Lexington, I've had instances in which my GPU throttles and then ceases communicating with my monitor and I have no idea why. It also takes an exceedingly long time loading (Black screen with green loading symbol) prior to exploding. My modlist:Unofficial Fallout 4 PatchPIP-PadLooksMenuLooksMenu Customization CompendiumAnS Wearable Backpacks and PouchesAnS Wearable Backpacks and Pouches - Power Armor Carry CapacityAnS Wearable Backpacks and Pouches - Ballistic WeaveAnS Wearable Backpacks and Pouches - No Crafting PerksDenim ChairThe Sanctuary v3.5Friffy-Fixed RugsSanctuary PArtsEvan-Modular Kitchencartman1975_concrete-glassCWSS ReduxMy Rig:i7-8700kGTX 1080 8GB16GB ram Thanks you all! jones177
Hi Does not sound like a mod thing. Check your PSU. Both the i7 8700k & GTX 1080 are power hungry. The i7 8700k can use around 270 watts gaming. If you are using "enhanced multi core performance" that is set to default on some performance motherboards(ASUS) you will use more. The GTX 1080 FE can use around 335 watts gaming. If you have a custom card, more.We are already over 600 watts & that is without manual overclocking. Check your temps. This is the hottest game I play. With my heavily modded game I have had both CPU & GPU heat throttling. On the CPU side I had to replace my heat sink with a Noctua NH-D15 & I need the 2 fans it comes with for this game only. My GPU was throttling because it was using the hot air from the heat sink. The Noctua NH-D15 fixed booth issues. If your are not on water get a Noctua NH-D15. Case Design. This is a big deal with a high end rig like yours.I use a Cooler Master Haf X with air flow from 4 sides & 4 case fans. Three of the fans are 200mm. Heat was still being trapped between the GPU & heatsink that caused throttling. Any case I buy in the future will need to have reviews with thermal testing. Drivers. My GTX 1080 has had more problems with drivers than any other card I have owned. All the problems have been with this game & Skyrim SE. I end up rolling back drivers 50% of the time. The screen going black is your video driver resetting. Right now I get that with Firefox. On earlier driver versions I had it with Chrome. Thankfully none of my games have been affected. You will need to check out the Geforce forums for a solution. https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/172/geforce-1000-series/ Later
bajs11
hmm never heard the GTX 1080 could use 335 W according to Nvidia it uses 180W and requires a 500W PSU I am using a ASUS gtx 1080 ROG Strix and i7 4790k with a 500W 80+ gold psu and I get constant 60fps running gta 5 on 4k ultra without AA and RoTTR at 4K 40-60 fps Edited January 2, 2018 by bajs11

Your numbers are more accurate. I still would not feel safe with your setup. My GTX 1080 is on a 750 watt PSU & my GTX 1080 ti is on a 1000 watts. Call me paranoid. Later. bajs11
A high quality 500w psu is fine simply because I haven't overclocked the cpu and the gpu yet.I recently bought the EVGA 650 G3 only because I plan to overclock and maybe upgrade the gpu in a year or so Edited January 3, 2018 by bajs11
