swordclash117
Hello, I have been trying for some time to import a custom FO3 .dds texture into NV to no avail. I've tried everything, Nifskope, the GECK, and ArchiveInvalidation, with no results. The furthest I've gone to solving this myself is I imported the FO3 dds into the NV GECK, saved it and it shows on the model preview in the GECK, but when I activate it using FOMM, it still doesn't show. I am incredibly annoyed and confused by this as this should a very simple thing to do. If someone could import the FO3 dds into whatever format NV supports that would be appreciated, whether a .nif or a .dds here is the mod I am trying to import: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/4988/ Edited December 31, 2017 by swordclash117
Deleted1205226User
Dds format used is the same for NV and FO3, textures are interchangeable. There must be something wrong in your manipulation. Please, explain step by step what you're doing.
swordclash117
I tried putting the .dds file in the NV data directory in the texture folder, edited archiveinvalidation with path to texture, did not work I made a NV .esp using the GECK, added the .dds file into the misc. texture set, went to biped model and added the new textures to arms02 and upperbody, saved it to NV data directory, did not work in game I also tried saving the .dds as a FO3 .esp, made a NV blank .esp file then using FOMM's TESsnip tool copied the GRUM into the NV blank .esp and saved it, did not work I also used FOMM BSA Browser to find the T-51b Outfit.nif and add the texture onto it using nifskope, opened it in the GECK, same result as above and this is pretty much the methods I remember doing right now Edited December 31, 2017 by swordclash117
M48A5
To use a .dds file in NV, you only have to add the .dds and _n.dds file to the exact same path as the vanilla armor path and toggle archiveinvalidation. The loose file will be used instead of the vanilla file. However, the path to the loose file must have the exact same path as the vanilla file. If you are replacing an armor file, the path might be "data/textures/armor/name". I have used a lot of textures from New Vegas in FO3 and it was just a matter of dropping the .dds file into the appropriate file path in the texture folder. swordclash117
So, I've put the .dds files in the data directory like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data\textures\armor\t-51bpowerarmor this is what my ArchiveInvalidation.txt looks like: bInvalidateOlderFiles=1C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data\textures\armor\t-51bpowerarmor I've also gone to the NV launcher and checked the box that says 'load loose files' and yet, it still doesn't show up Edited December 31, 2017 by swordclash117
M48A5
"C:\Program Files (x86)" is the worst place to have the game installed. You should see the article on Steam that has instructions on how to move the game. Why are you using archiveinvalidation.txt as opposed to using a mod manager?
