RichardMarx
When I get to a certain part of the map, the game ctd.I have a link that goes to a picture that shows the exact place marked with a red circle. Most of you would recognize the place/area.I am not sure what is causing this ctd everytime and perhaps one of you could tell me what it could be............ https://drive.google.com/open?id=1IrJ83WlnaOx_9ox-iAy7oBKjD5r-M7yF
KlashUsKlae
Heres a quick cut and paste from a thread on CTD's..It worked for me...I would ctd in or around downtown boston or even close to it but this fix worked for me. This is what I've found in my own testing, there is no one mod to blame for crashing in the specific areas for most of these cases nor does it seem to be any one combination. I don't have any mods altering the area around Monsignor plaza. Yet I'll get crashes in that area. If I turn them all off I can enter but as I turn them back a few at a time the performance in that area gets worse until instant CTD. Doesn't matter what order I turn them back on in, two day of testing doesn't reveal a smoking gun, and looking at load orders of people complaining of similar problems doesn't reveal anything either. It just seems past so many mods active the area becomes unplayable new or old games. Now In the past I've gotten around this by slowly circling the crash zone saving every so often and inching closer and closer until I can finally enter the necessary building in the area or even wander around. The fact that if I enter slowly enough and from the right angle I can explore the crash zone led me to believe the game is crashing because there isn't enough RAM to load the area OR the game is using up all available ram to load the area and there isn't anything left.So I added the following line under [General] in the fallout.ini file. iPreloadSizeLimit=8388608000This insures the game allocates 8GB of my 16GB of ram to the game and just like that I could walk into the problem areas. No fussing with load orders, no making merged mods with FO4Edit. That one line problem solved, remove the line problem comes back. You could also try adding the linebPreemptivelyUnloadCells=1But I did not find that necessary. Now if you use say the Mod Organizer you'll have a unique Fallout.ini under each profile so you'd need to add that line to all of them. Here the thread: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/4002000-crashing-in-boston/page-
TheGadget1945
This isn't going to help you much but my game has frozen to point where I have to use Task Manager to close it down when I go into that area, even when I fly over it in a Vertibird. The only way I have found round it is to go into TCL as soon as I reach the area and hope that my destination will let me click on the door or whatever. As soon as I get inside a building it is ok.When I leave the building I either use a COC console command or hit TCL the split second I get through the door. RichardMarx
I changed the number you gave for iPreloadSizeLimit=8388608000 from the 8 in the beginning to 16 in the beginning.................. (so: 16388608000) I have a i7740x @4.3GHz with 32GB of Ram and a Geforce GTX 1070 with 8GB of RAMThere should be no problems at all i'd say...................... @TheGadget1945: when my computer doesn't ctd, it freezes and i end up pressing the reset button on my pc. I have always thought that pressing the resst button is a bad thing. Using Task Manager doesn't do any harm to your PC.
RichardMarx
the problem with task manager in this instance is that it won't respond as it should.
sopmac45
the problem with task manager in this instance is that it won't respond as it should. Got same video card as yours, 16gb RAM and SSD drive ... it is not about how good your rig is only but the only time where my game was getting very low FPS ( 9 or so ) was when I had several graphic texture mods installed in my game and my load order was crappy .... ... use LOOT to sort your load order ( make sure that you have the last version - Dec 2017 ), clean your game cache files via Steam, clean your master files via FO4Edit, rerun LOOT, make sure that you place some mods in your load order according to the mod author's recommendation ( for example, Scrap Everything must be at the very bottom of your load order and no question about it - LOOT probably will not place it there but do what the mod author said - ), if you can, delete all your graphic textures mods and stay only with one ( however, deleting a mod mid game is not recommended ... if for any reason your game crash, then you would have to restart from scratch and do not make the same mistake again ) or simply do what I do, do not use any graphic mod ( they are awesome but lower our FPS ). Also, make sure that you open your console command and type : gr off ..... this will completely disable God Rays which is known to lower your FPS a lot; I also turn off : lens flare and blur and keep some settings in medium / high ... BUT ... here is the catch, my AA is off and this is the function that makes your graphic being soft is you have it on. By turning this off, your game graphic ( without any texture ) will look much better. The AA ( Anti-aliasing filter ) is used in photographic cameras and when Nikon / Cannon remove that filter, the pictures are sharper. Same principle here. Turn it off and forget about graphic mods. If you cannot play without a graphic mod, choose only one then but not several. Last but not the least, make sure that you are not running something in the background of your PC cuz will affect your game performance. As soon as I did everything that I mentioned above, my game FPS are high. I do have a 165 Hz Monitor ( keep it at 144 though ) and my FPS varies between 50-144 and when it goes to 50 is in certain areas but also because I am playing with WOTC ( War of the Commonwealth ) on high settings which is a mod that spawn a lot of enemies everywhere and it is a very heavy mod that may cause some CTD's as well ( the mod author warned us about it ) ... so I am ok that sometimes my game CTD but honestly, not that often, perhaps once every 12-15 hours game play and it is due to this mod ( new version of this mod is coming soon and it will be much stable and much better in all regards ) .... ... do not know about how many mods you have installed, but I am very selective with my mods ( like quality not quantity ), I only run 73 now with more plugins cuz I have some custom mods that I have made for myself. By having my video and game settings in the way that I have it, I am able to lean on performance more than quality but still, I will argue that the quality of my graphics are very good in compare to other gamers that used a lot of ENB or graphic mods. Again, it is important to me to have the best possible performance, otherwise, what is the point for my game to look so beautiful with too many graphic mods if I won't be able to play due to lower FPS ? Happy gaming !
