Are "Air bubbles" possible?

So, there are modded air purifiers that remove the radiation from a certain radious. I'm wondering if something like this could be adapted to water -- changing the visibility of the player, forcing walking animations, water-breathing... in other words I'd be able to build a room underground, install this air device, and then use it as if it were sealed room underwater. (As of now I can't think of any other way to do this, but I certainly would like to be able to.)

I'm not quite sure I understand...

though it sounds like an awesome idea.

you want to have a "rad-lung" like Water-air-lung?

people can hold their breath underwater... so, hold the 'rads' like holding the breath?

with 'rad-away bubbles'.

getRoomBound would be tricky for the node, so the rads don't leak through the room to other rooms,

presumably though, some ghouls would need a 'tanning room' to retain their 'healthy glow' hehe.

or, you want a water-"airlock"/ spaceship airlock type deal?

better aquatic spelunking has buildable 'water/airlocks' etc,

so I think it's possible.

ie, a conditional node and timer?

Steve40 and Shavkacagarikia wrote how to get water to leave a room etc,

ie for Croup Manor and the Water-Pumping-Station near Greygarden City.

they've got several fragments which might be adapted to what you're envisaging.

Anything that would make an underwater building free of water,or at least make it look like and act it's free of water. If I drop four walls and a ceilinng into the water, it will still be filled with water so long as it's below the waterline.
Better aquatic spelunking? I can't find anything about it. Same with underboston.

aha,

so, it's like an under-water airlock.

in that case, you'd probably find Steve40 and Shavkacagarikia's fragments exceedingly useful.

the vault-tec elevator is your 'archetype template'.

the exterior-to-interior cell is how you can cheat,

and not need to actually build stuff in the persistent world as much.

as to projects and unlisted stuff,

that's half the fun of modding isn't it?

i'm pretty sure i remember ccmads, the mod author of SOE, talking about this a while back. from what i recall, it wouldn't be possible to do with already existing bodies of water without editing the settings for water throughout the game. the reason for that is due to how bodies of water are rendered in the game iirc- there isn't any limit to water depth by default, so building anywhere under water would make those structures under water as well.

you could set a depth to the water, but as far as i know, it would be that depth everywhere throughout the game. so say it's set to a depth of like 5 floors/stories, you could build a capsule or bunker below that which would remain dry, but then everything below that depth, aka ocean floors and such, would be dry too.

that's how i remember ccmads explaining it to me at least, but it's been probably a year or so since then, so it's entirely possible that i misunderstood the explanation or maybe information on this subject has changed since then

That's why I suggested "faking it." If we can remove radiation within a certain radius, that's a good first step.
Next we have to force the player to walk rather than swim within that radius, and clear the underwater visual filter. I've seen mods that force animations and filters, so this seems possible.
Along with water-breathing within that radius, and we've got "faked" bubble/room/dome/radius of "simulated air" under water.

So I wonder, could a button or switch in a settlement be made to active a fallout 4 console command when activated?

Edit: If an elevator button (for instance) can in fact execute console commands, then an underwater home is actually very simple.

Console commands can disable the water!
Enter into an enclosed elevator above water, press the down button, the doors close, the water vanishes, and the elevator goes down to your "underwater" settlement. I suppose dof could be tweaked to make it look like it's still water in the distance.

I'm going to try it, if I can figure out how to make buttons execute console commands.

Atlantis!
