darrion
Topic/description says it all. Can it be done without a developer version of the Skyrim engine? I am very interested in learning how to mod. I may have a large amount of free time in the future and I don't want to merely make a new weapon (though I realize that is the perfect place to start). I was muddling ideas around in my head and figured either Avatar (James Cameron) or The Last Airbender would make me have enough interest in it to see it through to the end. Forgive my ignorance if this has been asked already. I am busy at the moment and wanted to get this question out before it got lost in the tumbler. Lanceor
Since nobody's answered... Sure, it's possible, but the amount of work needed is astounding. Just by comparison, Nehrim: At Fate's Edge, a total conversion for Oblivion, required a core team of 12 people around four years to create. Keep in mind that this was a highly experienced team that had worked together on other large mods before.
darrion
Thanks for the heads up. I was hoping it would not be so daunting of a task. You would think that they would try to make it easier for the mod community to implement their ides, much like Blizzard did with SC/SC2. That being said, SC had a much simpler toolset, but still.
