samoyed1958
was wondering just how many different homes there are that you can buy in the world of skyrim? And whats your favorite ingame {not player made) home?

fraquar
If I was gonna play without house mods at all - Honeyside would probably be my one and only purchase. Immediate access to a lake, a rear deck and accessible without entering the city proper. That and the fact that you really don't have to spend a whole lot of time to be able to purchase it. Once mods enter the equation, people end up ignoring Honeyside (and virtually every other home not named Breezehome) because they aren't centrally located. Sad too, because the Whiterun hold area is probably the most boring scenery on the Skyrim map.

kradus
Hjerim is the best indeed, and also the hardest to get.
BrettM
If I was gonna play without house mods at all - Honeyside would probably be my one and only purchase.I purchase all of them, but Honeyside is where all my characters prefer to live. Aside from scenery and outside access, it also has faster access to more merchants, and there are two general merchants in the bazaar instead of just the usual food/wine vendors. There are some downsides, such as lack of a handy smelter and no Drunken Huntsman to keep me supplied with large quantities of arrows, but I think the pluses more than make up for the occasional need to make a Whiterun trip. I'm keeping my eyes open for a good Honeyside mod that will make it totally perfect.
Zemica
I think that the best home in all of Skyrim is the quaint cottage in Whiterun. Not only do you get it for free by doing the main quest. The house is also in a very convenient location. Markets on one side blacksmith on the other. Its not the most ornate house in the game, but it does hold all the necessities that a humble Nord would need.

You do have to pay for that one and for the upgrades. Or were you referring to there not being many quests you have to do in order to purchase it? I've only bought 3 of the homes Breezehome, Vlindrel Hall, and Honeyside. I used Vlindrel Hall for one of my characters but I really like Honeyside the best. Definitely like not having to go into the city to get to my house, and it has quite a few weapon racks a couple mannequins and what a consider a nice layout.
