Guest deleted43426342
As the title says NPC won't talk. Whenever I try to have a conversation with her nothing happens. This is a vanilla NPC that I added more dialogue too. In the vanilla game, you can't talk to her. Whenever you do she says some lines but you can't respond to them. To be more exact she's one the King's groupies. I made a quest for her dialogue and deleted her original lines. Yes, I used top-level, and even speaker, despite not using it for other dialogue and they work fine. I also used getisID. I also deleted her AIPackage. First I tried to alter it, but that didn't work. Please help me, it's getting frustrating.
EPDGaffney
My advice to you is that if you want to make a mod that will be compatible with other people's load order, you should just start this over and make a new NPC that dresses like her, so that the King appears to have one extra groupie. Then watch Seddon's video (or anyone else's really) on how to make an NPC with dialogue. And be sure to use the Obsidian Conversation Editor instead of the method most tutorials show you. They're using the older method from Fallout 3, which is far worse, but the principle is still the same. Check this for a bit more:http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Getting_started_creating_mods_using_GECK#Dialogue_.26_Lip-synch What I imagine is your problem here, if I had to guess, is she wasn't using a Greeting Topic and you're still not, either. Edit: Or maybe the quest isn't enabled. Edited January 5, 2018 by EPDGaffney

Edit: Or maybe the quest isn't enabled. I fixed it. I used the Greeting topic and everything. The quest was enabled too after all the other NPCs I added showed up. The problem was that I didn't erase all of her old dialogue. But thanks for the help!
EPDGaffney
If you don't mind, could you explain a bit more what was the problem and how erasing her dialogue fixed it? Could be useful for someone looking through the forum for answers one day.
Guest deleted43426342
I guess the problem was that I didn't erase all her dialogue before making a quest with new ones. As you can't talk to her in the vanilla game, she just says a line but you can't respond to it. And since I changed her voice type she didn't say anything. This problem only occurs to NPCs who don't give you dialogue options only random lines. I guess you're right, if she wasn't needed for my mod it's best to just make a new NPC. EPDGaffney
The thing is you shouldn't have to erase all her lines. I mean, I don't know but I'd imagine the other groupies are using them anyway, so erasing them would be bad (you should probably test the other groupies if you haven't). I would always go for adding a new NPC in cases like this. If you want to add dialogue to a named NPC, that's different, but adding a Greeting Topic should still fix it. Was your quest priority still set to the default of 0? I've never not set it to something above 50 for dialogue, so it's just a guess but perhaps that could be making her hello topic take precedence? Guest deleted43426342
Nope, I know for a fact that it had priority. But the thing is they're both part of the quest, so I would've deleted her dialogue anyways. And no they don't use the same dialogue, I just found that out. But that doesn't matter anyway. EPDGaffney
Weird. Don't really know in that case. Oh well. Best of luck with your mod.
madmongo
Be very careful deleting lines. A lot of dialog options are shared between multiple NPCs and you can easily unintentionally break another NPC. It's better to do this the way that EPDGaffney suggested. Create a duplicate NPC that has all of your new dialog options and disable the old NPC.
Guest deleted43426342
I know! But the NPC who's dialogue she shared with was supposed to be deleted anyway, at least for my mod. I know for a fact that they are the only two who use that dialogue because as I said there are only two King groupies.
