Having some strange issues with controls in the GECK

So I've been messing with the GECK for over a year and never had any issues like this, I recently got a new PC so I installed NV and everything and decided to work on a house mod, but it seems I cannot zoom or pan.

I can still spin with shift though so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to fix this. I can work around it, but it is very annoying after awhile trying to line stuff up without being close enough to tell if it's correct.

Literally any ideas are welcome even if it seems obvious as I've never had to mess with the GECK settings before (aside from enabling multiple masters obviously.) and I'm stumped :/

P.S: I'm on Windows 10, but my old PC was too so I doubt that is related.

Huh ? I was looking at the wiki page here >>> http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php?title=GECK_Keyboard_Mapping

And from in the geck under "Edit / Render Window Hotkeys" where you can assign keys.

But strangely "Hold space bar + move mouse" for panning

and " Hold V key + move mouse" or " mouse wheel" for zooming

Are missing in both lists ...

But I wonder if you need to install Geck Power Up ? maybe there is hot key problems the NVGeck has along with its issues about not returning script errors. That Geck power up fixes ?

As this is a "new box", it is possible you now have a different brand/model of mouse. If so, please see the several "mouse" entries under the 'Solutions to Control problems' section in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. Many configurable "advanced features" of newer mouse drivers interfere with older games and tools.

Not sure about the reason for two posts, but this edit was added in the other one:

Edit2: After some testing it seems using FN+space or FN+V lets me use these functions. Odd since I have action keys disabled.

I think that information will come in handy for someone else one day.

OP, what computer is this?

<FN> (presumably "function") is not a "standard" key on PC/ASCII keyboards. There are actually three different PC keyboards: the original PC keyboard with 84 keys, the AT keyboard also with 84 keys and the enhanced keyboard with 101 keys. The three differ somewhat in the placement of function keys, the control keys, the return key, and the shift key. So the OP's <FN> key is apparently acting as some sort of "modifier" key; like <Shift>, <Ctrl>, or <Alt>. Some newer 101 key "windows keyboard" versions also have a <Windows flag> key which is also a modifier key. (Possibly the OP's <FN>.) And there are other "multifunctional" keyboards as well. A tool such as:

could tell us what "scan code" is actually being sent. Once we know the scan code anyone can update the "GECK Community Wiki". (The official Bethsoft wiki requires you to get through 5 CAPCHAs to make an edit! It was such a pain it drove the primary community contributors to create their own wiki.)

That's a good question. The appearance is the same for both. My guess would be two domain names for the same server, but you would have to ask one of the primaries (listed on the main page and the same on both) to know for sure. The technodeep site was the original announced by jazzisparis. I was unaware of the geckwiki.com site until you mentioned it.

Think you're right, because I was almost completely up to date on JIP but a function I found on geckwiki.com wouldn't compile until I updated JIP, meaning they must have added the function in December and updated the page in December as well, so it seems well maintained. I may mention it to Roy next time I run into him.

Edit: The timestamps on both pages are identical, so I think that seals it.

I guess I need to watch out for parroting information sites that are out of date ... But like you mentioned you do EPDGaffney. I often just type "Geck {then what ever} " into google search , which usually always brings up the old wiki that nobody seems to be maintaining anymore.

Damn it , we need google to get on the ball with those search result updates :armscrossed:

 LOL its googles fault.

The old wiki is fine in most cases. It's more often either the same or lacking information, but I don't think I've ever come across an instance of it being outright wrong.

So, to keep this thread more or less on topic, I'm reminding OP that the model of the computer and/or keyboard would be useful in determining why this occurred.
