It's A Supernatural Life

"It's not going to end at all."July added and then looked at the television. It seems that what happened in the shop was already on the news. One part worried her though. She completely forgot about the security cameras but she couldn't let those who were still alive die either. "Oh crap..." Was the only thing that the hunter said. This whole situation ruined her plan to go back to the motel and take a look at the local newspapers. Maybe there's a case that needs to be solved but now... "We need to leave this town. Now."

"Just get up very casual," Raven said quietly, rising from her seat, "We can talk in my car."

She looked around. Thankfully, no one really seemed to be paying attention. With night coming on fast, they might be able to escape the town unnoticed.

July nodded and got up from her seat. She was acting casual. This isn't the first time when something like that happened to her so July is simply used to this. She also agreed that the best place to discuss this is in the car. No one will hear them there.

David started the tape over again, watching the whole scene unfold from the beginning. Sitting in abject shock as he watched the black smoke flow out from the men's bodies, he realized that he could never hand this over to the police. He'd have to dispose of the video, somehow. Due to budget constraints, the cameras recorded information and sent it to a computer in the back room, where it was burned to disc every hour. "Maybe...maybe a stray bullet shot the camera system through the wall before the footage was burned to disc. That could have happened. And the police hadn't looked in the back room yet....or had they?" He could no longer remember if the door had been unlocked or not. "s***."

Reaching a decision, he rushed out of the room and shot the box where the camera feeds linked to the computer through the wall. They weren't likely to notice one more bullet-hole amongst the debris, and now even if the cops had seen that the computer was on..."Well, they couldn't have known if it was recording or not." David sat back down and started destroying the footage.

Raven led the other hunters to her Mustang and unlocked the doors, motioning for them to get inside. Once in the driver's seat, she quickly closed the door and reached for the map in her glove-box.

"Let's see, I think I know a place where we can hide. But it's going to take a lot of driving."

July was pleasantly surprised to see what car Raven was driving. She always had a fondness for classic cars. Especially because her father used to drive one. Same car now belongs to her. "I don't see the problem. I don't know about you but I'm used to long journeys and it's better than being locked up in some filthy cell. So where is this place?"

Raven pointed to her map, "I'm originally from Wyoming. There's a guy I know there...makes all of my 'special supplies.' He lives in a shack just outside Bighorn National Forest. We'll need to take I-80 to Cheyenne, and then cut north on I-25 for a ways. Once we get to Buffalo, there's a chain of back-roads that lead to his property. It'll take us roughly six hours to get to Cheyenne, and then an additional four hours to reach Buffalo. Are you up to it? And more importantly, is she up to it?"

Raven jerked her thumb at Amy, who had been hitting the vodka pretty hard.

July listened carefully to Raven and her plan. Usually July tends to remain alone and not to band together with others hunters because not every hunter kills monsters to save people but for some odd and unexplainable reason she had decided to make an exception. This time. "I'm up for it." She then glanced at Amy. "Well I don't know about her. She can't drive that much is obvious so either you or I will have to take her with us." For a moment July said nothing and looked at Amy's and her own cars. "Let's just hope that she doesn't have an arsenal in the back of the trunk."

"Right then," Raven replied, "You might want to take her, since you two met before me. And it's probably good we're leaving her car behind. A Ferrari attracts a lot of attention."

She looked up at the darkening sky. They would be driving well into the night.

"Just flash your lights or somethin' whenever you wanna pull over. We may need to get a hotel sometime after we cross the state line."

The deed completed, David picked up the disc claiming to be the footage of what transpired and started walking towards the local precinct. Despite himself, he couldn't help eying the shop with no small amount of apprehension as he left. "I hope it didn't stick around..." Once he had transferred the label from the original disc to the blank copy he currently had, David had planned to dispose of the original in a fire. But despite his better judgement, he had stuffed it into his coat pocket. He didn't know why--he'd already memorized the faces of everybody involved, as well as their vehicles and clothing. Maybe just as proof to himself that he hadn't imagined it during some bout of insanity.

After dropping off the blank disc at the station, David had the astounding revelation that he was in dire need of a drink. Resolving to keep an eye out for any of the women, he headed for his favorite watering hole.
