ShadowTigerZC
It's a very strange thing. First of all, my apologies for the thread title. It's ... not worded very well. :P Essentially, I'm trying to figure out why some of my in-game content is in Italian, but not all of it. Bandits now have the name "Bandito" and some swords have Italian names. The Inn (The Giant's Toe) in Riverwood is now named I'm trying to figure out which of the mods that I have installed has done this. This is a list of the mods that I have installed, and I can't for the life of me figure out where this Italian is coming from. o.O' Does anyone happen to know off the top of their head what sort of mod this would be? A better idea would be to go into a hex editor and look for the word "Bandito" or any other Italian phrase. I've seen "Bandit0" in the editor, so I know it can find things like that, I suppose. Could also use the Creation Kit to look for anything like that. Just so bizarre. You'd think I'd know it if I downloaded an Italian mod. Ark0th
Wilds of Skyrim has some of these issues with languages, especially Italian.
ShadowTigerZC
Thanks for the tip. I disabled but, but I still have an "Ascia de Guerra. d'acciaio" in my inventory. Is there any way I can look in my save file in the Creation Kit or something to see the source of the name injection? Just thinking (stupidly) aloud here. I do appreciate any insights anyone has to offer. Truly I do.
TheDarkPrince
Ascia de guera is spanish, not italian lol. You probably downloaded a MOD (like Tytanis) that is with the spanish translation. My guess would be, by watching your modlist, TYTANIS or MIDAS (both have a spanish translation, and MIDAS in particular is related with riverwood aswell)
SkjoldBjorn
Here is a pro troubleshoot tip for you. "the process of elimination" - Take away all mods, then enable them one by one and keep it going until you hit the language problem again, then you will know that the last enabled mod is responsible.I can understand that people who install above 50 mods might not want to do this however... TWarrior
wars in skyrim has some italian translation in the 4.4. i think 4.5 patched this bug.
ZoCks
Ascia de guera is spanish, not italian lol. No, It´s Italian, only the "de" its spanish but he probably means "di" . As Guerra its the same word in spanish as Italian. Ascia its Italian, not spanisch.. ergo. Not coming from a "spanish" mod, bu an italian one. lol back. ;)
ShadowTigerZC
I do very much appreciate the suggestions. :) Turns out it was the Wars of Skyrim mod that was doing it all. Got enough to worry about on my plate with Giants chasing me around the continent without random mobs of fools shoving pointy sticks at me for an only slightly sufficient reason. Thanks again. :D
born2bkilled
for future reference there is a fairly simple way of locating weird behaviour like this in a mod without the constant trial and error of disabling mods one at a time: download TESVSNIP and in the open options select ALL your mods except skyrim.esm and update.esm, then open them. (that means all esp and esm files) it should open all of your mods in a list down the left hand side. now you can use the find function built into tesvsnip to search for the specific phrase. in my case i had something renaming my torch to "torche" when tesvsnip finds it, it will tell you what mod it came from. if you know what your doing you can even delete the reference for this object from the culprit esp, then re save it without the error. IMPORTANT: Only do this if you are sure the object has no effect on the performance of the mod, or you WILL GET CTD's!
eltucu
Ascia de guera is spanish, not italian lol. Im pretty sure that you'd get a lot of funny looks if you started to call an hacha de guerra as "ascia di guera" in any spanish speaking country. So, lol to you too i guess. I didnt knew Wars on Skyrim's author was italian btw. Edited March 27, 2012 by eltucu
