Better Fur Armour

The fur armour in the game looks more like patches of leather and hardly has any fur on it at all. I was thinking of the armour being more furry like Viking armour or the traditional barbarian outfit. For example, really fuzzy boots with the leather straps wraped around it and a bear pelt thrown over your back.

I have to agree because -even though i don't use fer 'cept mabye gloves/boots/pants- it does need some kind of retex

Even the people who made the Decorated Fur Armor just added a few Polka-Dots to it And called it good(no offence meant to the makers here)

It could truly use a retex

The game does not support the "hair" type for modeling which would be idea for this request.

The best you can get is creative use of flat model planes, transparency and alpha channels in textures. Although that solution has it's own fair share of problems because the game engine (most of them) do not handle overlapping transparencies very well.

Creating a roman helmet with a transparent hair mane is nearly impossible to do without invisibility issues cropping up due to multiple alpha layers overlapping, hence the reason why manes were implemented as solid objects without transparency.

Here is a quick example of what "could" be done to the existing fur armor as mentioned above.

Example Blender file:

Although this would not be a complete overhaul, this method could be done in a relatively quick timeframe and yield better results than standard fur armor.

EDIT: With a bit more creativity in the modeling process, you could add these extra transparent pieces as separate NiTriStrips so that only those pieces will have the transparency enabled. Then you could creatively use the UV Map of the extra "fur" planes to utilize the existing textures (no additional artwork needed) and then modify the textures with alpha channels to add a grey color to the entire channel. This would allow the fur to be transparent for the NiTriStrip that has the "NiAlphaProperty" but the rest of the armor would ignore the alpha channel and would not be transparent. ;)

Well, the fur boots look a tad thin. The orcish boots would be a better base model. They also have fur at the top which fluffs out. My idea was to give the "bulky"-styled fur armour. Think of "less eskimo and more barbarian" A simple retexture of the original is still appreciatable.
