The niche

A content mod that adds several specialty races from Elder Scrolls lore, corresponding quests and items. It should not interfere with other mods where possible and should actually blend into the world so if you do not intend to play as the new races or do the quests you still get some new content. The mod should appeal to more different target groups than just connoisseurs of extinct mer.

 

The races

Three new races. While they are technically based on existing races, they use the right combination of parts to look unique in their own way.

 

The Snow Elves

The few Snow Elves who did not flee underground and ran into the Dwemer after their defeat at the hands of the Nords. They are tough and adept at both cold steel and destruction magic. They are resistant to frost and blend into their environment during snowy weather.

Racial spell: Tempest - Casts a series of consecutive lightning bolts from your eyes, dealing minor damage but also staggering the target you are pointing at.

 

The Chimer

The handful of remaining Chimer who were not cursed by Azura due to their unwavering devotion. Adept at the less lethal forms of magic. Conjuration spells last longer, bound weapons ignore defense and they have a chance to gain a shield when struck (100% when blocking).

Racial spell: Twilight Link - Invoke Azura to cast a blue energy bolt that swaps the current health percentages of the caster and target.

 

The Sea Elves

Sea elves live in the tropical south and rarely leave, unless captured by slavers. When the Imperials busted a slave transport to capture Ulfric Stormcloak, the Maormer slaves were set free. They specialize in stealth, are resistant to disease and gain a bonus to destruction and restoration if cast while sneaking.

Racial spell: Poison Dart - A silent, accurate, long ranged dart that cuts a target's current health to 1/2 and attempts to hex it into a chicken.

 

+ NPC Wild Elves & Mazken

 

The new races will also show up as rare random world encounters: a snow elf death squad, etc.

The quests

A main questline with several unique quests, as well as Radiant quests for those new items below.

 

The plot revolves around the emergence of the scattered groups of Snow Elves who were not forced underground to get devolved by the Dwemer, under the leadership of the heir to the Snow Prince title. His intention is to gather the races who have a beef with the current human population of Skyrim and avenge the death of the Snow Prince at the hands of a human child while taking back Skyrim at the same time by devising a curse to kill all human children in Skyrim.

 

You can do these quests as a member of the regular races, but why not go in style?

 

  • Meet lots of interesting people!
  • Suck children into a vortex to Oblivion!
  • Engage in sniper combat!
  • Get shrunk and attach explosives to people!
  • Set off volcanic eruptions!
  • Fly and bombard camps with ice spikes!
  • Place landmines in front of unsuspecting townsfolk!

 

The items

Lots of new items with unique properties that encourage skilled use: a bow that deals more damage at a distance, a battlemage weapon that causes power attacks to lower enemy resistances, a glove that makes targets undead, etc.

 

Progress

2012.03.26: The races are implemented, next come the items and finally the quests.

 

 

Any feedback so far is welcome! Motivations for each race, quest ideas, etc. If good enough and actually used, your name will be in the credits.
