kevkiev
I've done the MM ending (all surviving factions friendly style) and am thinking of trying the BOS or RR endings this time. But I'm curious about the post-ending world. I'm guessing that the various Commonwealth checkpoints would be populated by BOS or RR members instead of MM, but what about the rest of the world? Do any NPCs talk about what happened? Are there BOS/RR personnel in Diamond City like there are Minutemen after the MM ending? Any other stuff? I'd anticipate that there would at least some difference but, well, I don't really have much faith in Bethesda's writing in this game so, considering that the MM seemed to be the "main" faction, I don't completely discount the possibility that, with either of the BOS/RR endings, the resulting world simply ignores what happened. I mean, it's not like there's a ton of stuff after a MM ending ('cept maybe BOS rank and file talking about the MM, and you can get some kinda cool dialogue about the MM from Kells and Maxson if you console-force the "A New Dawn" quest) so maybe it's not much of a stretch to think that there'd be zilch for the RR/BOS. (E.G. does anything happen with that annoying Mercer Safehouse "Caretaker"?)
Haukaido
with each ending a generic dialogue will be added to the Guards of Goodneighbour/Diamond City and some of the quest essential NPCs like Irma and Dr Amary at the memory Den.For both the minutemen and Railroad ending they all love you because both of these endings are basically considered as one.For the BoS ending some companions will show their concern like piper or Nick valentine, and the Memory Den NPCs won't be that pleasedFor the Institute ending the same companions will also show their concern (Piper/Nick Valentine/Preston Garvery) and the Memory Den NPCs will 'hate u' as they'll refuse to talk with u.But other than that nothing of value happens , Just like u said , Bethesda's writing is shallow. All the endings are more or less the same as you will always have the flag of whichever Faction you've sided with waving at diamond city , and u will also have the NPCs of which ever faction u sided with patrolling diamond city and every other military check point in the world.Another thing to note is that if u side with the Railroad you will lose Paladin Danse and X6_88If you side with the BoS you will lose Deacon and X6_88If you side with the Institute you will lose Deacon and Paladin DanseIf you side with the minutemen (pacifist ending) you will lose X6-88 /( Dictator General ending ) you will lose Paladin Danse , X6-88 and even Deacon if you want to.Also , the faction u side with will have an impact on the Farharbor DLC , if you don't want anymore spoilers don't clickDuring the entirety of the main quest for Farhabor where you have to run errands for Dima and 'Help' the Synths of Acadia you will be given a miscellaneous quest linked to whichever faction you've sided with.-If you sided with the Minutemen you will continue running the quest as normal and nothing notable happens , really...the Minutemen are pacifists...-If you sided with the railroad you will be given the option to inform the Railroad HQ of this synth settlement where the HQ will ask you to try and see if you can make Dima an ally to the RR since he's also helping synths and all..-If you sided with the BoS you will be given the option to inform the HQ of this settlement and signal a full assault on Acadia where you destroy all the synths-If you sided with the insitute you will be given the option to inform the SRB/Advanced systems of this settlement , keep on spying and eventually relay an entire team to disable and retrieve all the escaped synths Edited January 12, 2018 by MrPandaz

Moksha8088
I have never sided with the Institute because they are portrayed as the bad guys, but I can't help but wonder if they might actually be the best hope for mankind - at least if they are willing to help. I also wonder if the Rail Road are actually cannibalistic necromancers in that they take a person's memories and infuse them into runaway synths. It seems like the process would be destructive to the donor. Good questions Kevkiev. Do you use the mod The Danse Dilemma?

Do you use the mod The Danse Dilemma?I mostly side with the institute and they are not the good guys ,throughout the entire game even after siding with the institute u still find 2nd gen synths targeting non hostile npcs (ex: Sandy Coves Convalescent Home)AlsoDon't click if u don't want to spoil the institute ending after siding with the institute u unlock new mini quests like every other faction ending. One of these quests are triggered at the Bioscience division where you are required to deliver special seeds to Warwrick homestead in which you find out that Mr Warwick is actually a synth (they kidnapped the original Warwick and replaced him with a synth to monitor their crops) even his family shows concern because the synth Warwick is more productive and and helpful than the old father which made one of them suspect he's a synth and tries to kill him. This is where you , the director of the institute can intervene and resolve the issue however u want. So no , the institute aren't the good guys since they see the commonwealth as a giant test lab. They are however the best future for humanity if u share the vision of the institute and believe that the people of the institute-and anyone who didn't grow up in the surface- are the only sane humans (which might be true considering the surface feels like a world out of time where nothing had changed ever since the bombs fell) Edited January 15, 2018 by MrPandaz
kevkiev
Ended up going with the RR ending and so far the post-game experience is pretty underwhelming. One NPC in Diamond City gave a cryptic remark about the Freedom Trail, but I might just not have recalled hearing that before and it could have nothing to do with the ending. One of the guards mentioned something about lantern graffiti. (Um, maybe it has something to do with those 2 new lantern flags in the marketplace?) The Caretaker still talks about how the Institute is going to kill us all someday, which makes him even more annoying than he was before. Gawd, what a completely useless NPC he is - only a matter of time before the mole rat den at Red Rocket becomes his final resting place. I coulda missed it, but I haven't heard anything on the radio about the destruction of the Prydwyn and, so far anyways, haven't heard anyone else remark about it either. The lack of its mention in Publick Occurrences certainly doesn't speak well of Piper's reporting abilities. The most significant change from the MM/ all-3-factions-friendly ending so far is being enemies with the BOS. Checkpoint attacks can be pretty intense, with vertibird support and armored Star Paladins with gatling lasers. Especially since I run a couple mods that really toughen-up the vertibirds. Vertibird-supported attacks on the checkpoints near Finch Farm and Jamaica Plain triggered my settlement turrets which was pretty cool. I've run into a couple non-checkpoint BOS ambushes too, and they're pretty fun. Overall, the most significant experiences of that ending were actually from the Tales from the Commonwealth mod, as my main companion R4-04 had a lot of cool dialogue. Moksha8088, I know you're a big fan of R4 so you'd definitely appreciate that. From a role-playing perspective, my char's relationship with her was the biggest factor in choosing that route. Ultimately, finishing with the BOS seemed much too inconsistent with that relationship. And, although it was really tough killing Scribe Haylen and Proctor Ingram (Scribe Nariah too), killing Knight Rhys went a long, long, ways in making up for that. I thought about trying the Danse Dilemma but after reading the comments and bug reports I got really antsy about that mod. I've had to work around enough bugs in the vanilla questlines without adding more.
Moksha8088
I haven't run across whatever bugs those may be, but I do like how it seems fairer to Danse. I also like the Nuka World - Skip raiding your own settlements mod. Yeah, I would like to hear any additional dialogue that R4-04 has to offer. genolune
Out of curiousity, has anyone talked to Old Man Stockton or the Covenant people after any of these endings? I would hope that he would be more talkative after a Railroad ending.
kevkiev
Stockton is, sadly, unchanged. But Kessler and Deb each made a comment. Oddly enough, one of the male Bunker Hill caravan workers has the most dialogue of any NPC I've encountered so far - talks about the RR taking out the Institute and the Prydwyn. Thanks for the comments on the Danse Dilemma mod Moksha8088. I really like the idea of that mod so maybe I'll try it next time.
Stronglav
The main problem with this game is.... there is no difference.Doesn't really matter how you finish the storyline and with which fraction. There is no visible world changes after the end.Yea sure some patrols and Diamond city presence.but other then that..... nothing.
