Modslave
So pretty much since Skyrim came out I've always had a problem with the Gate of Whiterun. I can go in without any problems but after I decide its time to head back out into Whiterun Hold, I CTD every time. I've never been able to resolve this issue and its happened pretty much through every patch for me, even through hardware and system upgrades, patch updates, even running Skyrim completely vanilla with no mods. Now of course I'm so used to it now I literally save at the Whiterun gate every time before I exit, and of course after crashing and coming back to the point where I saved, I can exit and it doesn't crash. I've got a fair mod list that I run but its no where in excess of my PC capabilities I'll put PC specs and load order in spoiler tags so it doesn't clutter the post. But just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what they've done to get around it. Also yes I use uGridsToLoad=7 rather than the default 5. But my system is more than capable of handling it as per the system stats I'll attach. Any help or ideas about what I can do other than revert to a brand new game and abandon all my saves under UGridsToLoad=5, would be appreciated. Brandy1123
Looking over the mods you have, I can speculate based on my own experience. The texture pack and some graphics drivers are not at all compatible. Also I do not know what StaticMeshImprovementMod.esp changes. Try and disable No Fast Travel.esp and see what happens. Mod troubleshooting is a horrible thing.
Modslave
Hrrm I'm not entirely sure the High Res texture pack would have issues with the Nvidia 296.10 driver set which is the newest one out. The StaticMeshImprovementMod.esp came along with an SMIM patch. No Fast Travel.esp is actually a papyrus script based mod that I didn't think would affect exterior to interior world transitions but it might be a culprit, I'll test it out and see. And yeah been doing trouble shooting on mods now since Morrowind, if theres one thing that never changes is theres never been a magic tool that can detect and help eliminate conflicts, other than TESEdit...hrrm I wonder if theres a TESEdit stand alone version for Skyrim...I haven't even looked really, I'm so used to all the tools being under the same hood, with NMM's rather light tool capabilities I didn't think to go look and see. Brandy1123
The Texture pack conflicts with several stand alone texture mods that originally were released by our fantastic Nexus Modders early on. Since Bethesada and STEAMypile offer no compatibility promise of anything modded, some of those had horrible consiquences with CTD's from updates 1.2xx through 1.4xx versions. With 1.5, I have never downloaded it, so i have no testing/in game experience with its issues. Edited March 28, 2012 by Brandy_123
Modslave
Yeah I just downloaded it as the free DLC, problem is removing it is a mess, simply unticking the .esp's wouldn't get the job done. Teach me to DL anything directly via Steam ever again thats for sure.
Brandy1123
I am sorry about the STEAMypile garbage you are dealing with. Although the modders using it have a lot of fantastic mods, I refuse to allow STEAMypile into my house to get them. I always do data folder backups before each new mod I load. Its just not worth it to lose everything and have to resort back to STEAMypile. I would rather cease playing MY game and move on to something else.
