Character Textures

Heya so just started trying out Oblivion and been picking up mods for it but I'm having trouble finding some good overall character texture mods. I prefer sticking with the vanilla bodys, so don't really want to download any body meshes just nicely done textures like the Xenius Character Enhancement for Skyrim. Something that isn't a nude/animeish texture and sticks well with the vanilla. I'm using Natural Faces but that doesn't change more than the face.

As for body texture, 'Something that isn't a nude': There's no such thing. Check Miss Onatopp's Vibrant body texture for Female(stock female body). If you open it with any viewer that supporta dds, you can see it's nude skin. The underwear is mesh with own texture, not part of skin texture.

**Stock Skyrim body is better than stock Oblivion body, at least.

The Vanilla body mesh is pretty crap to begin with, so replacing it is worthwhile.

Both HGEC and Roberts Female and Male have underwear options, if you just can't handle seeing naked people when you take their clothes off.

Given your stated preference (though can we seriously stop using "anime" as shorthand for "things I don't like"? Its quite irritating), your best bets are probably either Robert's Female or TGND, TGND has the advantage of using HGEC textures, which are much more commonly used anyway. And of course there is only one Male Body Replacer.

I suggest you go ahead and find a body replacer you like. The bodies look MUCH better with a replacer and you don't at all have to make them nude. Plus, because of the selection, it is easy to find a body that is similar in shape to the default body as well. If you need any help, please let us know.

I just noticed the vanilla bodies don't have underwear heh, I usually don't unequip gear when looting to save a little on bag space. If I use a body mesh does that mess up wearing the vanilla armors? I mostly didn't want to have to worry about downloading a ton of new armor meshes to match up with the new body.

Well, in Oblivion your body comes with your clothes. You "wear" the body that's inside them. But this goes only for meshes. Skin textures are coming from the race records, and their layout has to match the meshes'.

That's why it's paramount to "always" be using Stock Clothing and Armor Replacers when using "any" body mods. It is a common misconception that you can just "get away with it" when using Vanilla clothing or armor items when using body mods, as "they're not that different and I don't care for a little oddities hidden under clothes". Especially "custom" races often don't have the necessary textures for Vanilla bodies, if they weren't made for Vanilla bodies, and then they'll be either purple or default to Imperial skin textures, quite an annoyance on furred or scaley races I tell you.

So whatever body mod you choose, you'll always have to get at least the Stock/DLC/Overhaul Clothing and Armor Replacers, so stock/DLC/overhaul items will work without any issues on them.

And as for better textures for Vanilla bodies... I don't know any, so I'd say you're quite out of luck with going this route. But I also don't know all mods out there either.
