Superrpgman
Ok, so this is what I'm thinking. First of all, I want a silent movie feel. No voice acting, and I just read subtitles. I know that I can just turn the voice acting down all the way, which is cool and all, but thee any mods that I can use to enhance this witha more silent movie feel? I want to replace all the music with Fallout 1 and 2 music, and maybe music from other older games like Baldur's Gate(series), Planescape Torment, Command Command and Conquer(series), Jagged Alliance 2, and Diablo 1 and 2. Can you please recommend some mods that will give me at least the closest thing to this? I'd also like to replace all the weapon sounds in the game to that of the sound effects in Fallout 2. I especially wanna hear the super fake gunfire sounds that are in Fallout 2. Are they any mods that make this even possible? And yeah, please do suggest other mods that will give the game a more Fallout 2, silent movie type feel. Edit: And Maybe some companion mods that will give it more of a Fallout 2, silent movie feel. Newgamemodder
Im not experienced enough with fallout 4 but if my years of modding other games can tell me something: 1. removing voice acting is probably possible if you remove the voices in creation kit (which would be VERY tedious 2. you can add a new radio station which plays the old music, don't know if its possible to replace music. 3. most likely very doable (replacing weapon sounds)
Superrpgman
Oh, you misunderstand me, I'm not gonna do any modding myself, I'm looking for mods that will do this stuff for me.
Rrezz
Alright, so Fallout 1 and 2 did have voiced dialogue, but it also did yes have Text. So I recommend using Full Dialogue Interface by Cirosan. To supplement that you'll be using Silent Protagonist by CoffeeAddictUK and Subjective Cinematic Dialogue Camera by KhaoMaat. And to get the full Fallout experience you'll turn on Dialogue subtitles in the setting's menu of the game. There's no mod that I know of that turns off NPC voices, but again you could probably disable it in the settings options. Not 100% sure. For the music you're best bet is to go with Classic Fallout Ambient Music by Zako1989. It's really the best mod out there for that classic music. As far as making the weapons sound fake, there aren't any that I know. There's few out there that make them sound more realistic, but not any that make them faker as far as I know.
Superrpgman
Oh wow, thanks Rrezz. And yeah, anyone else have any other recommendations to give the game more of a retro feel?
Macrophobic
I'm afraid Fo4 is far too different from the classic Fallout to change it close enough to feel the spirit of the old games. It's not REALLY post-apocalyptic, it doesn't let you to be a bad guy/girl, it doesn't have that abstract sense of humor. Yes, the game lacks some really crazy ideas, and when some modder makes a crazy, funny mod, he gets comments like "OMG how dear you, it's UNIMMERSIVE! In real life you wouldn't (...)". So I suggest checking mods tagged as "Unbalanced", "Unrealistic" and "Humor, Joke or Just For Fun". As for replacing music - the best way to replacing it is to convert music files to .xwm format and put the loose files into "Data/Music" folder. By "the best" I mean you can use any music you want. You can extract the music files from the "Fallout4 - Sounds.ba2" archive with Bethesda Archive Extractor, or at least open the archive to find out what the default filenames are. Even if they have a .wav extension, there are not wave files, just renamed .xwm files. To convert mp3 (or other supported format) to xwm, use MultiXWM. Than rename your files into, for example, MUS_Dungeon_01.xwm, and put them into Data/Music folder, the game will load these loose files instead of tracks from the .ba2 file. Other names will be like "MUS_Public(...)", "MUS_Explore(...)", :MUS_Combat(...)" - that's how you need to name your files. For combat music, I recommend tracks from Planescape Torment, some of theme will be just perfect. And Combat(...)Finale - it's some sort of "jingle", that the fight is over, so I just replaced those files with 0.1 sec of silence. However, Fallout 4 has a different music system than Fo3/FNV, it's based on "palettes" (Data/Music/Palettes) - 3-second ambience sounds. You can replace these short sounds with longer tracks, but there a side effect may occur - sometimes, when a fight begins, both tracks - ambience and battle music - will be played at the same time. jkruse05
Some random stuff that I remember seeing:Vault-Tec Historical SocietySome Assembly RequiredTelevision ReplacerBe Exceptional - Skills and Perk OverhaulRoad Flares then manually install this file to make them last longer. Install to Fallout4/Data/Meshes/Effects I suggest using it with No Pip-Boy Light and maybe Tactical Flashlights. Essentially, you'll be required to make or find items to light your way, all of which are much more atmospheric than the default. I always recommend Junkmaster over on beth.net, but it would probably conflict with Be Exceptional. It makes a lot of changes, fixes, and additions that feel natural to me, but others may not like. The old-school part comes in with the addition of several items. If you want changes to VATS describe what you want and there is probably a mod that comes close. Maybe Classic VATS?Really, search 'classic' and you'll get tons of stuff.Classic Fallout ColorNuka Cola Classic or F4NV Neo-Classic Nuka Cola or Classic Style Nuka Cola Bottles (I guess people really didn't like the rocket bottles)Classic Old School XP Gain SoundClassic Fallout Level Up SoundClassic Dogmeat (makes Dogmeat a Blue Heeler, as with Mad Max, which was his original inspiration)Classic Radiation Poisoning (will now give SPECIAL penalties)Classic Speech Checks (you either have high enough charisma, or not, no dice roll)Classic SPECIAL (You get a few more points to invest in your SPECIAL during character creation, but you can't use perk points to increase them once you start, may not be needed if you use Be Exceptional)Classic Fallout Main Menu and/or Classic Fallout Menu ReplacerClassic Ammo Names A couple other music options:Classic Fallout MusicClassic Background Music Old School Weapon Options:Rangemaster Hunting RifleThrowing Weapons Westored (Use spears again!)Grenade Expansion Pack 2 (adds some other throwing weapons, and some old school explosives, like TNT, plus a lot more)Classic Super Sledge (it just looks more like the old Fallout 1-2 icon to me)Wattz Laser Gun or Wattz Electronics WeaponsPlasma Caster or The P-113Knockout Framework (more nonlethal options)Mauser PistolBozar or Bozar or Bozar10mm Revolver Colt 6520 (the original 10mm pistol)12.7mm Pistol (the 14mm pistol)10mm SMG (is two-handed)M2019 PKD Detective Special (.233 Pistol and That Gun) or .223 Revovler ReduxDesert EagleGrease GunP90DKS-501 Sniper RifleAK-112 Assault RifleXM73 Gauss Rifle (closest thing you can get to the old one, for free anyway)Sadly, there is far less love for the energy weapons than ballistics. Also keep an eye on AlexScorpion's account for the Pip-Boy 2000 , and flipdark95's just in case he finishes his Plasma Defender. DOOMBASED also has an FN FAL in his backlog.
