FPS Drop in Commonwealth - 60 - 0

I've been playing modded Fallout 4 for a while now but recently I've been going from 60 FPS solidly in settlements but randomly in the commonwealth the more open area I shoot straight down to freezing and 1 fps and slowly climb back up. My mods aren't too demands mostly NPC Appearances and textures (4k textures and the like) nothing that would normally cause frame drops. So any help would be great.

Looks like a basic Load Order issue. Have you tried running it in LOOT then FO4edit to check for conflicts? I know that Eli_armor Compendium and My_Minutemen have an issue with leveled lists but that's easily fixed with a patch.

 

My Load Order: (Stable for the last 6 months (ish).. Can say as this will work for you as I have highly modified some mods to be compatible with each other)

Go to Steam, right click on fallout4, go to Properties, Local Files and clean game cache.

 

Go to FO4Edit and run LOOT ... you will see that your master files must be cleaned. Proceed to clean each one of them ( do not clean fallout4.esm though ) ... after you finish cleaning your master files, run LOOT again and Apply the load order suggested by LOOT. Log out from NMM and log back in so you will see the new load order suggested by LOOT.

 

Make sure that some of your mods are in the right load order by reading the mod description/load order/compatibility suggested by the mod author. If they say for example, "keep this mod as low as you can in your load order", do it manually regardless of what LOOT previously decided. Make sure that you read every single mod description so you know in advance what to expect and where they should be in your load order. Some authors do not add any comment about that so you need to read also the posts because most likely, somebody asked that question before in the posts and pretty sure it was answered by the mod author.

 

Before you start the game again, double click on the fallout4 icon on your desktop and it will automatically detect your video card and will apply the settings. Go into the game Options and tweak whatever you want in your video settings according to your preference. Exit it out. Now you are ready to launch the game via fallout4 launcher.exe.

 

The above is the normal / standard procedure before doing anything else. If you continue having issues, then you must do a patch in your game via FO4Edit. This is not difficult at all but to learn how to do it, go into the mod WOTC ( War of the Commonwealth ) and look for a video ( in the mod description ) suggested to be watched by the author. This video will teach you a lot of stuff that is essential to play your game without issues. The video will teach you how to patch your game. I watched it and I was able to do it and I am not a modder ... not till I watched the video.

 

Now, I created my own patch ( my game is running very well - no CTD's - ) and I have been creating my own custom mods for myself ...

 

Last but not the least, there is a mod in fallout4 by Gambit that give us his suggestion about the correct load order that we need to follow. Look for it ( do not remember the name ) and this will help you to determine if your load order is correct. However, is just a guide. I have seen several load order suggestions and every single one of them are kind of different. LOOT is necessary but is not just enough. Place your mods in your load order according to what the mod author suggested. This is super important and essential for your game to run as it should. LOOT does a pretty good job but again, what the mod author suggested should override what LOOT said.

 

Btw, I do not recognize some mods that you have, I've never downloaded them so I cannot give you my opinion about them. You do not have that many in your load order. I only have 73 and my video card is the Nvidia 1070 with SSD, 16 RAM, Z170 MOBO and i7-6700 and a Viewsonic 165 Hz monitor 27". I go for quality not for quantity. I am not criticizing you, just letting you know that even though I have a decent rig, this game engine is not that friendly and it does not matter how good our rigs are, because it won't help that much to run a smooth game, so, bottom line, the above procedures are essential and more important that people think.
