lexablackbird
I have this weird issue with F4SE where the game will run fine if Steam is not already running, but if Steam is already running, Fallout will crash on startup - I only get as far as a black screen with the hourglass before it crashes to desktop. I'm running the latest versions of Fallout and F4SE, but I've been encountering this since 1.10.40. Anyone encounter anything similar? This doesn't happen if I run Fallout without F4SE, or if I run 1.10.26 with the corresponding version of F4SE for that release. I haven't tried going through and removing mods yet, because I have around 250 running and I don't know offhand which ones use F4SE, so I figured I check here first... lexablackbird
Saw in another thread that deleting the data\f4se folder can help with CTDs on startup, and what do you know, it worked. :-)
willyb9
you realize that deletes all of your f4se plugins, right? it means one or more of those requires an update to work with the new version of the game, just like f4se itself does with each update... four2nothin
I know this is an old one but what is the solution here? I can't delete that folder and I'm certain everything is up to date
willyb9
why can't you delete the data/f4se folder? if you do, be sure to make a backup of it first.are you even sure your crashes are f4se related? what version of f4se are you running? what version of the game are you using? what mods are you using that require f4se?there are a million things you could've done to cause the game to crash on start up, and you've not provided any information as to what you've done to troubleshoot
