SS:Rise of the commonwealth most game changing mod so far

So I'm not usually one to try and convince others to try mods, but this mod changes the way I play so drastically, and has really changed from the beginning of sim settlements. Bear with me.

I've always loved building settlements, but I almost always ignore most of the settlements, only chousing a few to build in just for kicks. the idea of sim settlements caught my attention from the beginning, but I eventually got bored with laying down these square plots. Rise of the commonwealth makes settlements feel very different.

for those that don't know the basics, you assign a companion to a settlement as a leader. you then wait for settlers to come along, and build the place up on their own. for me, I usually assign a couple settlement leaders, and try to do quests and explore. during that time, I watch my settler count grow , and it actually gives me a reason to visit my settlements to see how the place is turning out. You can also donate food, water, weapons and armor, as well as liquor or chems to increase happiness, which speeds up the city upgrades.

What motivated me to post this was the awesome feeling of anticipation that I get when a city upgrades. It makes the settlement system feel much more immersive and have a purpose. I only have a few SS addons installed, and that gives me a good variety of the plots that get built. the people that made these cities did a great job of blending the plots into the other assetts. I consider myself a decent builder, but every city I've seen past level 1 is by far superior to anything I've built myself. it's a great feeling exploring a settlement after getting these upgrades, very much what I thought the settlement system would feel like when it was first shown by Bethesda.

I'm not the greatest at articulating myself in posts, but I seriously urge those of you that have written off SS to give it a try now, it finally feels complete.

that's not considering the support that the mod gets, and all of the little changes that king gath has made to how settlers sandbox around settlements. he treats it like it's own game, releasing patches every couple weeks and making sure everything works as intended. New add ons are also always coming out, with new features that authors learn to implement. Well that's the end of my rant, anyone that loves settlements but found laying down plots boring should give this a try. at the least, it's cool to have a reason to visit settlements that you'd otherwise ignore.

Sim settlements and its add-on mods are pretty awesome. Rise of the commonwealth gets a little bit too crowded. You can tell they are using 'place anyway' mod and compacted far too many things together. having many more choices of plans would be nice. Right now, it's only one plan per town. I think the dlc settlements have no city plans.

I do use the mod in places i have zero clue how to build with using sim settlements. How it builds, however, does cause problems. Like one built a farm you (and the settler) can't get to until far later in the city build. Defenses far too low until the city is finally 'finished'.
