This thread will contain a list of issues that have been reported before and ideally a workaround.

Problem: Exception message "download.urls is not a function"

Solution: Update to 0.12.8

Problem: I can't change the plugin load order directly

Solution: You're not supposed to, Vortex works a bit differently from previous mod managers. Plugin load order is managed mostly automatically by loot. What you can do however is control _how_ loot is ordering the plugins by either setting a dependency (i.e. declaring that one plugin needs to load after another) or by setting a (global) priority for the plugin in question.
The former solution (dependency) is preferrable.

Problem: When switching to a non-gamebryo game a progress bar shows up saying "Starting Deployment" and then doesn't continue.

Solution: Update to 0.12.8

Problem: When importing mods from MO (NMM as well?) the mod list will not be populated if there are no mods installed through Vortex itself yet.

 

Solution: Install any mod through Vortex itself, then retry import.

 

 

Problem: When importing mods from NMM it shows an empty mod list.

 

Solution: Maybe wait a minute. That import tool loads stuff in the background without showing an activity indicator.

Problem: The UI is laggy at times

 

Solution: Performance optimization hasn't been our top priority so far, first we want to get things to work well. Please just be patient.

Problem: "Error: Sorry, the service is temporarily unavailable" when trying to download a file

Solution: In this case it's safe to click ignore on the error message. Afterwards the download will be stuck in status "pending". Cancel it and try to start the dl again, it should be a temporary problem on the server.

Problem: Savegames don't show up for Fallout games

 

Solution: None atm, sorry. Will be fixed in next release Update to 0.12.8

Problem: you get the error message "failed to run deployment helper"

A security feature is currently preventing the deployment method "symlink deployment (elevated)" from working.

Solution: update to 0.13.6

Alternative Solution: Set the mod path for Vortex to be on the same drive as the game, then choose "hardlink deployment" in Settings->Mods

Problem: Error saying "Git operation failed. Details: -17; unknown certificate check failure: libgit2 error" on Windows 7

 

This is actually caused by somewhat outdated security settings in Windows 7 which prevent loot from downloading its masterlist.

 

Solution: This thread on the loot repo revolves around the issue and has proposed solutions around 60% down: https://github.com/loot/loot/issues/882
