Cyberlazy
Hi. I have figured out how to solve some of the stuttering that occurs when an explosion happens, or when some mods weapons are used with large sound effects and/or meshes. Open and change the following files: Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Fallout.iniDocuments\My Games\FalloutNV\FalloutPrefs.iniProgram Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Fallout_default.ini Alter the lines in [General] to read:sEssentialFileCacheList=Data\Fallout.esm|Data2\Fallout.esm, Data\Music\Special\MainTitle.mp3, Data\Fallout - Sound.bsa|Fallout - Sound.bsa, Data\Fallout - Voices1.bsa|Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Data\Fallout - Meshes.bsa|Data2\Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Data\Fallout - Textures.bsa|Data2\Fallout - Textures.bsa, Data\Fallout - Textures2.bsasUnessentialFileCacheList=Data\Music\Dungeon\*.xma, Data\Music\Base\*.mp3, Data\Music\Battle\*.mp3, Data\Music\Explore\*.mp3, Data\Music\Public\*.mp3, Data\Music\Special\*.mp3 Alter the lines in [Audio] to read:iAudioCacheSize=4096iMaxSizeForCachedSound=512 This basically allows the game to cache much more into memory then it otherwise would, as it seems textures and meshes are excluded from memory, as well as large sound effects, resulting in a momentary freeze whenever they are loaded. May not stop a slight lag on the first explosion, but should greatly reduce any lag on explosions shortly after that.

dubiousintent
Please don't "necro" old threads, especially just to say "didn't help". Post a new thread listing your specific problem and "load order". In the meantime, see the "Solutions to Performance problems" section of the "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide for the most common fixes. -Dubious-
