EvilMetro
As you all may or may not know, Skyrim gets boring and dull, especially once you've done the main quest, all the guilds, all the Daedric Prince quests, and all the other petty quests. You've explored the entire region (or most of it, anyway), cleared out most caves, ruins, forts, etc.. But as I did the one quest with Sheogorath, I thought to myself. We could work to bring back the Shivering Isles from Oblivion. Now, I'm no expert modder, and I'm hardly fitting for the position as the leader of this supposed project, but I'm putting this idea out for you guys. I do have a bit of CS ability, but not an amazing amount of skill. I'm not sure if it's possible to port the Shivering Isles from Oblivion to Skyrim like the guys at Morroblivion did with Morrowind to Oblivion. I also chose Shivering Isles over anything else due to its decent size - not to small, not to big - and its uniqueness. And of course, being in the realm of the Mad God is always thrilling, too. So, your thoughts on this? Good idea or not? Edited April 2, 2012 by EvilMetro
RedRavyn
Bad Idea. Very bad. In opening your boxes containing both Oblivion and Skyrim you have agreed to NOT port material from one game to the other (or to any game at all, for that matter). Yes, it's a binding agreement, even though you never had a chance to read it before-hand. It hasn't been tested in court, yet, probably because nobody thinks it's really worth the time, money, and effort to sue Bethesda over this detail. That said, you will not be able to host your mod on Nexus, or even to talk about it on the forums. The Nexus management is very strict about things that conflict with your end user agreement with Bethesda. Even posts like yours can get you into hot water with the Administration, here. chaospearl
It would be feasible to re-create the Shivering Isles in Skyrim, but as RedRavyn said, you couldn't do it by "porting" Oblivion resources. What you'd have to do is create your own models and textures from scratch for use in Skyrim. And given how aggravatingly difficult it is to get new stuff into the game with the currently available tools, I'm thinking no one's going to be motivated to embark on a project that ambitious. At least, not at this time. Once there are better tools available -- I'm stubbornly clinging to optimism that there will be eventually -- then I could see it happening. Cipherthe3vil
Pfft. if that's the case then just call it the "Shuddering Isles" keep the same general theme, rearrange the layout, such as having the cities in the south west instead of north east. You want for nothing, it would retain the madness, very similar visuals, and no one can sue you. People do it all the time in media, I highly doubt you'll get in trouble. This will keep it perfectly lore friendly. If you recall, the Shivering Isles was due for a cycle in which it was to be remade anyway.
EvilMetro
When I said "porting over", I meant what they have done with Morroblivion. As in it required you to own the game in order to have the mod to work properly.
EnaiSiaion
Why not make your own content? :)
yota71
truly you want to trasform Skyrim in another oblivion or as someone want to do in another morrowind? Why you don create a totally new content? over the skyrim borders there are a lot of space, all to be used :) Because as far i understand bathesda will never use the space that the team have created

EvilMetro
Um... No it's not. They first tried to rebuild Morrowind from scratch using Oblivion's engine but the project stopped when Bethesda did not allow it. But Bethesda didn't mind that they made it a requirement to own Morrowind yourself in order to get the mod to work for Oblivion. Anyways, I guess this is not going well with you guys. I just wanted to add some lore-friendly content to the game.
