charlottenoyen
Here's what happened so far: I did the "Discerning the Transmundane" quest long before I started getting into the main quest. I finished it, got the Ogma Infinitum thingie, but did not pick up the scroll. I just left it in the tower. Couple of hours of other quests later, I'm told to go find a scroll for the main quest. I go back to the tower in Blackreach without talking to anyone else first (because I know where to find one) and pick it up. Then, like I said, nothing. The quest doesn't update and there's no scroll in my inventory. It just disappears from the machine. (I know it's supposed to be under "books". It isn't.) Here's what I've tried: - Talking to the NPCs I'm told to talk to, which ends with me talking to an Orc librarian who won't tell me anything main quest related- Adding the scroll with the console, which makes it appear in my inventory, but trying to read it just freezes the game until I hit Esc- Doing the above + using setstage MQ205 100, which updates the quest, but trying to read the scroll still just causes the game to freeze- Launching the game without mods active, same results Here's the mods I'm using (plus SKSE): http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b33/cosmic_charly/1b806873.jpg (Sorry, don't know how to make a txt file of the mod list). That's basically all I cant think of. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, because if I can't get this fixed it would mean I basically have to start the game over. AngeGardien
Peharp some command like this can help you : GetStage <quest id>Used to get the current quest stage for given quest ID (use command ShowQuestTargets for IDs). player.sqs <quest id>Used to display all the stages of a quest SetObjectiveCompleted <quest id> <stage value> <1 to set, 0 to unset>Used to set the quest stage as being completed or uncompleted. Use command ShowQuestTargets for quest IDs and player.sqs to show how many stages there are. (Useful for bugged quests; e.g. if you picked up a copy of The Old Ways before you got the quest to do so you would use SetObjectiveCompleted MGR20 10 1 to complete the objective of getting the book, and SetStage MGR20 20 to advance the quest to the next stage). SetStage <quest id> <stage value>Used to set the quest stage (Useful for bugged quests). Use command ShowQuestTargets for quest IDs and player.sqs to show how many stages there are (note that you have set the stage one at a time in order to get its effect.) charlottenoyen
In case anyone else runs into this problem (unlikely, but you never know), I took the scroll from the tower, added it to my inventory with the console (00048782), then used setstage MQ205 100 to finish "Elder Knowledge" and setstage MQ206 20 to further "Alduin's Bane". The scroll itself is still unreadable and not marked as a quest item, but I took it just in case. I just hope it's not going to cause a mess later, but it works for now. Thank you for the help! I am glad to view it's working..., i think your commentary will help big people, more people try to find a way like this, and i don't think it's cause anything bad in the futur because it's touching only this part of the quest, and the mark for quest item are more used to not permit to the player to put aways this item from her inventory, whitout this mark it's make only the way you can put it out from your inventory...
